My mother got an iPad today. I am so happy! I can actually give her tech support without going to her house to see what the fucking problem is with my own eyes! iPads for the elderly should be a national movement for the tech challenged children like me.

So my financial straights are pretty dour right now, being underemployed and all, and pretty much all of my friends know this. This didn’t stop one friend from asking me and several other friends – many of whom are also in dire financial straits – to ask us for donations so a friend of hers could go to Comic-Con, which I am not going to because I can’t afford it. I’m a little bugged by the tackiness of it all.

I have apparently been so console-focused in my gameplaying over the last few years that I have let me keyboard + mouse skills completely atrophy. I picked up Borderlands on Steam pretty cheap a while back and started playing it, and was so hopeless I had to plug in a 360 controller to play at all. How far I’ve fallen.

I requested the week of June 19th (Sunday) off from work for my vacation and that was approved several weeks ago. But technically the work week runs Saturday through Friday there and so I had to wait and see if I’d get that Saturday off and possibly leave earlier. When the week before’s schedule dropped I was happy to see that I had the last two days of that week off, so it looked good that I’d get an extra three days!

But nope. I have two days off, then work the day before I go on vacation. Doh!
