I got infected with a rootkit yesterday and got it removed today. I posted about it on Facebook, wherein nearly any post I make about my PC brings out people claiming how much better Macs are. ANY post. I’m tired of Mac owners trying to justify their purchases to me. Sigh.

I’m looking for someone to help me with editing a photo (y’know, making it look decent, instead of all washed out etc). It’s for a good cause! I know it’s non-zero effort, but I’d like it done well, which is beyond my knowledge, so uh, does anyone know of any tutorial websites? Or does anyone have a hankering to do a good deed? :)

Just remind them that the reason Macs don’t get as many viruses is because people don’t bother to create them. It’s not a magical immunity or anything.

I seem to be in the midst of a summertime blah when it comes to games. Before I went on vacation I was knee deep in a replay of Jagged Alliance 2 and was excited about playing around with Nehrim when I got back. But neither has kept my attention since, nor has anything else I’ve tried. I think I’m in the mood for a fantasy RPG, but the right one doesn’t seem to exist in my current list of titles.

I hate it when this happens. I feel like I’m wasting good gaming time by surfing around and trying to find something interesting. When I’m at work later tonight I will not doubt regret that all I did this afternoon was surf the net.

You’re playing Yahtzee, and looking for a large straight (2-3-4-5-6 or 1-2-3-4-5). On your first roll, you get 1-2-3-4-4. Do you toss one of the 4s for your second roll (and again for your third roll if you don’t get a 5), or keep the 2-3-4 and re-roll the 1-4?

Damn, you’re right. I calculate a 31% chance of hitting the large straight if you re-roll the 4, and a 29% chance if you re-roll the 1 and 4. My intuition told me otherwise!
