Thank you Dave and Raife - he’d appreciate your sentiments. He was a knuckleheaded cat and more than a little dense, but, he had a big heart. He’ll be missed around these parts.

Stevia is effin sweet! Literally!

Uncharted 3 beta goodness and Indiana Jones trillogy on SyfyHD. Today is a good day.

I never imagined I would find myself flipping between the Women’s US Open Golf and Women’s World Cup Soccer with more than passing interest, yet here I am. Paula Creamer, will you marry me?

You are witness to some of the worst officiating in Women’s WC history.

Yeah, this is very hard to watch. It’s a shame because it’s been a pretty good game aside from the refs handing it away to Brazil at every opportunity.

Abby!!!

Well deserved goal from Wambach, seeing as the time was added for a Brazilian fake injury. On to PKs.

I’ve got goosebumps from that goal. That was incredible!

USA wins 5-3 on PKs, after playing 60 odd minutes with ten players. Awesome win, pure guts. Loved hearing the crowd booing Marta for most of the game.

Yeah, wow!! That probably even tops the amazing US/Algeria finish from the Men’s World Cup last year. That was a great save by Hope Solo in the PKs.

I am SO glad that the US won that match. Can’t believe they fell behind 2-1, down a player, after the officiating horror, and won.

Why boo Marta? Her move to draw the red card was insane clown posse sweet. Did she do something lame?

Marta is a fantastic player, but she comes across as arrogant and petulant when she plays. She received a yellow from the ref for arguing, and became the focus of the crowds ire after the PK debacle. Her second goal was amazing, but I’m glad she still hasn’t won a major tournament. She’s one of those players that you like if they are on your team, and really dislike if they are on your opponents team, sort of like Christiano Ronaldo.

Dave, this article explains what I was feeling during the game very well. Also very harsh, but deservedly so.

Thanks, robsam. That guy can write:

With the cumbersome Wambach trundling round like a siege tower, the Brazilians were more than able to snuff out any threat and began to control the game.

“Siege tower”! Perfect…

Defender Erika was suddenly struck by an injury requiring prolonged treatment and the arrival of the Brazilian stretcher. This stretcher was evidently gifted with the kind of miracle healing powers traditionally only seen on religious telethons.

I understand what motivated your comment a lot better now. Thanks again!

So, I saw a couple standing by the side of the road today. Rather rough looking, and decked out (partially) in camo. But they were holding a hand-lettered sign reading “WON’T KILL YOU,” which was a nice touch. That’s the sort of honest self-disclosure I’m looking for from hitchhikers!

Of course, they didn’t say anything about not robbing or assaulting me, or whatever. Maybe those were written on the other cardboard signs they had folded up under their rucksacks.

The passsive/aggressive stuff with my landlady regarding the washing machine is getting ridiculous. She hadn’t used the machine all afternoon so I put in a small load, set on one rinse cycle. Hearing it spin down I went out to transfer it to the dryer, only to discover that it was now on 2 rinse cycles. And noticed that the dryer was now running, presumably with laundry my landlady did in the morning and left in the dryer. I went to do something else and came by a few minutes later to see her exiting with her laundry - and the washer switched back to one rinse cycle (though it’s actually doing its second because all she did was move the whole thing back.)

Almost every time I do laundry when she is here the settings on the washer mysteriously change. When she’s not here they are exactly where I left them when I come back.

Seen any good movies lately?*

*My spell checker doesn’t think “movies” is spelled correctly.

I think it wants “films” for UK English
