I love when the finance department doesn’t know what they’re doing, so they end up lumping a bunch of stuff into one check which then gets taxed at a rate of about 25% so that my take home pay ends up being far less than it normally is. Great job guys. Way to still fuck me over after not getting paid for four months.

 It just feels so much like sitting in Tom’s living room & chatting with friends, that its easy to forget that qt3 is public and everything we write here gets associated with our names for all eternity. So using a nick is probably just a good precautionary measure

There have been a few threads over the years where people who post under their real names demanded to know why everyone doesn’t do it, and then dismissed all the good explanations. Personally I use my real name because I could never think of a good nickname.

IIRC Tom actually suggested people use their actual names at one point and several people did change their nicknames over at that point. But its certainly understandable why not everyone would feel that was a good idea.

I changed to using my real name on QT3 because it felt like a place where I wanted to be known as Matt, not as Kid Socrates. But I begrudge no one who chooses to use an alias on here; I have a friend who was using his real name on here but now just goes by his first name, since he’s a teacher and didn’t want to be easily Googled.

I kind of regret not going with an alias - no big reason, it’s not like I didn’t want anyone to know I was Matt’s wife. I just like my usual handle that I used to use everywhere.

I was reverse-stalked from another forum by a girl I’d had one date with, and she found the thread where I asked the incredibly sensitive question “How do you politely break it off with someone who has an enormous ass?” I changed my username on the other forum, but since this is the only forum where I say evil shit regularly I’m keeping my 15-year-old alias.
