I’ve never posted in this one.
You know what? Fuck people with illegible handwriting. Seriously, if other people can’t read your writing and you make no effort to write in a more clear manner, go suck a dick, it’s like mumbling inaudibly and then running away before I can ask you to repeat yourself with less peanut butter in your mouth. I can’t even begin to describe how much of my time has been wasted at work trying to decipher some idiot doctor’s incredibly shitty writing. Do you really have only 3 seconds to fill out the entire receipt? I know your time is more valuable than mine but I’m just going to imagine a variety of unpleasant things happening to you, then deny the claim and send it back with an error code denoting ineligibility for missing information, and then your patient is perhaps going to have to call me and explain and if I’m in a particularly bad mood their going to have to go back to you and get a receipt that doesn’t look like you tried to write it by dipping string into ink and using your mouth to whip it around on the page. I want to go back in time and punch whoever taught them how to write in the back of the head so maybe just maybe they’ll try a little harder.
One of my unofficial duties in the office here at work is to answer calls of “Mightynute! Come read old-people for me!”
I sincerely hope your coworkers actually call you that.

All you Johnny come lately CPAs have it easy, I can’t believe they put that on the exam!

Pfft, screw FAR, I’m fleeing to the west coast.
Wouldn’t the west coast be pretty far from Virginia?

These kids. I believe he is referring to a part of the CPA exam known as FAR (Financial Accounting and Reporting). Also, Scrax, the world is flat, don’t flee too far to the western edge or you will fall off!
Exam Content
The sections have been reorganized as follows:
· Auditing and Attestation (4.0 hours): (AUD) – This section covers knowledge of planning the engagement, internal controls, obtaining and documenting information, reviewing engagements and evaluating information, and preparing communications.
· Financial Accounting and Reporting (4.0 hours): (FAR) – This section covers knowledge of concepts and standards for financial statements, typical items in financial statements, specific types of transactions and events, accounting and reporting for governmental agencies, and accounting and reporting for non-governmental and not-for-profit organizations.
· Regulation (3.0 hours): (REG) – This section covers knowledge of ethics and professional responsibility, business law, Federal tax procedures and accounting issues, Federal taxation of property transactions, Federal taxation – individuals, and Federal taxation – entities.
· Business Environment and Concepts (3.0 hours): (BEC) – This section covers knowledge of business structures, economic concepts, financial management, information technology, and planning and measurement.
The Uniform CPA Exam tests primarily understanding and the ability to apply authoritative literature—such as auditing and accounting standards, the Uniform Commercial Code, and the Internal Revenue Code—that are universally adopted by all US jurisdictions or are federal in nature. Every effort is made to avoid asking about subject matter that may have different correct answers in different jurisdictions.

Yea, a bunch of the new associates and I started studying the CPA after busy season. They all started with FAR, because it is often considered the hardest, but I started with BEC. I really needed to be “trained” to study again, and I felt pretty comfortable with what BEC was testing on. Plus, it’s motivation for me to finish the other parts!
Looks like it was a good idea, because several of the others have psyched themselves out of taking FAR after 4 months of studying. It’s just too much information to start with I think.
I passed BEC easy enough. FAR was a beast though and I’m not too confidant that I passed. The multiple choice wasn’t too bad, I was even bumped up to harder difficulty questions, but I was completely unprepared for the simulations. Much harder than was prepared in the study materials. Even the research question was a puzzler.
Now I probably have to wait 6 weeks to even see if I passed. So I’m wondering if I should just re-study FAR, or try and knock out one of the lighter sections (AUD?).
In cleaning my apartment out, I found this, can’t believe I still have it, but I kind of like the fact that I do:

Sigh, shame the game itself was never finished. The beta I played was awesome.

I’ll be sending you good karma and hoping you passed Scrax! I really have no good input for you on how to go about finishing it off, I got mine 24 years ago and the exam was somewhat different (I hear). Keep at it though, this is not a bad club to be a member of, I mean, people already think we are dorks due to the fact we’re gamers, so you might as well flaunt it.
Last night I had a dream where I was in a theater of some sort with friends (in the aisle, not on stage) and was gathering from them an assemblage of items so I could dress like Joseph Ducreux. I had the coat and hat, someone was handing me the cane. There was a reason for doing this but it eludes me now.
You may recognize Mr. Ducreux.

I’m glad I don’t live in NYC, because with my color blindness I’d never be able to figure out what zone I live in.
Dammit Shaw, you want me to buy two completely separate sports channel packages just to get some decent auto racing because you put the racing channel in one of them and then blackout some of the big events for a channel in the other package? Fuuuuuuuck yooooooou.
