Can anyone tell me what the difference is between a traditional english meat pie and the typical american pot pie? The wikipedia article says the distinctions are somewhat vague but doesn’t really clarify what the difference is other then maybe the flavor and hardness of the pastry portion.
For some reason, I think Phil Collins’ “Don’t Lose My Number” might be my favorite song ever, as it just improves whatever mood I’m in, no matter what. Odd.

Might as well put this here. Mainly cause I don’t want to harsh the buzz in the drunk thread. So the house deal that I thought was a done deal is not. The guy that I was talking to was ready for the deal. But my mother decided to bring in an outside person. That was where the deal was soured. And so we’re looking at a different deal that may lose us $100,000.
I do the work. I make the fucking deal. But the house belongs to my mother. So she doesn’t like the deal and it’s not done. And we look to lose at least $100,000 because the next best offer is crap.
But it’s her house and there you go.
I’ll be drinking a lot in the near future. $100,000 lost. Fucking POOF! FML.

Several years ago I switched to diet soda over regular soda and last year I moved mostly to caffeine free diet soda. Now I’m trying to drop the soda consumption down quite a bit. So for first time in a while I have zero soda in the house and haven’t had any at all today nor will I.
I’m not going to completely eliminate it, I just hope to get to the point where its no longer my default beverage.

Don’t even get me started on real estate. We carried our condo for a year and still sold for a big loss. On the plus side, though, we’d have never been able to afford our new place before the crash.
Just think of the deal you’re liable to get in Florida. I hear they are practically giving houses away. I can already picture you in your backyard, sitting by a pool, eating fresh mango from your own tree and drinking beer while wearing a truly horrible Hawaiian shirt.

Hey, my mouse wheel goes from side to side. I’ve only had it for over a year.
So I asked my wife’s OB/GYN a stupid question yesterday that had been bugging me. Why do we want the baby to be head down in the last month or so of pregnancy? I mean yes, that’s how the baby needs to be oriented to birth properly, but why is it good for baby to be upside down for a month or so? Thinking about all the blood rushing to his head makes me nervous. The answer is simple and logical, though it eluded me until it was explained: the baby is suspended in amniotic fluid, not air, and so external pressure is greater and keeps baby’s blood flowing properly. Science!
A local school hosted a rally for Childhood Cancer awareness this past weekend, so they had flyers and chalk drawings all over the neighborhood with the initials of their organization: “Student Movement Against Cancer”.
So, there were signs for a SMAC rally all over the place.
GOG got in on the celebration too. SMAC (along with a few others) is only $2.99 this weekend. I grabbed both it and Dungeon Keeper 2.
My workplace’s wellness provider recently sent out a flier advertising the Family Assistance Program. Apparently the FAP is ready to improve your well being.

My boyfriend use to work at a chocolate store in Richmond called For the Love of Chocolate, and the store owners (who also happened to be gay) would often sign their checks with the store initials FTLOC.
At one point the owners were discussing whether they should expand downtown and what kind of store it would be. One of the owners thought a stored named “Food as Gifts” would be pretty neat.
After some thought, that was shot down.
Why can I remember the entire last verse of Weird Al’s “This is the Life?” Did I watch Johnny Dangerously that many times?
