Sometimes it snows up outside my window.
This is not one of those times.
It’s reminding me of the Aerosmith song (we are expecting a big 10" one).

I’m on the way to the hospital for the birth of my second child! Nervous!
Have to say it’s so far (Son just turned 1) been made out to be worse than it is. By far, the worst diapers were the ones that contained the meconium. Our guy was breastfed exclusively until solids, and none of the breastmilk only diapers were bad at all. They start getting worse once he gets on solids, but by that time my resistance has built up pretty well. The worst part by far is the reflexive reaction of “Oh, my diaper’s off… must get hands down there IMMEDIATELY to see what lost treasures have just been uncovered!” But you learn to kind of half hog-tie/half-bodycheck the little guy almost instinctively pretty quickly.
(I’m hoping there’s not a drastic turn for the worse before potty training in another year-ish…)
It seems like it would be nice to have a dedicated warm water basin and hose where you could just chuck 'em in and spray 'em down. I’m hardly an expert having changed exactly two diapers in my lifetime, but this whole “change diapers where normal living takes place” seems suspect.

My second daughter, Cecily, was born at 10:55 am. Mama and daughter are healthy and happy!
Yeah, I’ve always been a bit mystified about both the horror that so many men regard this chore and conversely the amount of credit I get from women if I step up and change a diaper. Neither of my kids have been in diapers for years and years but I don’t hesitate to offer a hand with my little nephew and his mother is simply amazed. “Presto Chango” indeed.

Congratulations and I am glad to hear everyone is doing fine.

double post…although in my defense the system told me the first one was no good and to re-post.
I got a error posting too fast, even though it had been awhile since my last post.

I see your “normal living takes place” and raise you one “changing diapers on the table in the middle of a Burger King, a place that has dedicated diaper-changing facilities in the ladies bathroom”.

Quick heads up. If you actually use one of those changing stations, make sure that you have sanitary wipes. The first thing you do is wipe down the whole changing station with them. And then wipe it again. Just consider where you are and who might have been there before you.
As well I remember just recently being in the Staten Island Mall before moving to Florida. The wife and I were tired and wanted to sit down on one of their bench seats. We just plopped down and I put my hand down next to me. And it rested upon a warm disposable diaper. It was carefully wrapped but it obviously had just been removed from a squalling infant. It was two feet from a garbage pail. So some wonderful mother had changed their lovely child and left the bolus wrapped carefully and on the damn bench.
Much hand washing was done that day.
Did I bring it to the garbage pail? Hell yeah I did. And I still remember the warmth in my hand.
Congrats!
My second son is due Aug 1.
What’s with all the genuinely SCARY bugs that are going around this season? I’m posting from a hospital bed, sicker than I’ve been in my entire adult life. Also a friend’s 42 year old cousin died from the flu within the past few days. How does THAT happen??? Scary stuff! :(
Since you won’t be gaming for a while… w00t! gratz!

FWIW, it kept me from buying SimCity 5. :D
Oh yeah, Juan Rayo, sounds like a great effort and a great accomplishment. Sorry I somehow missed your post from last month.
Please keep us updated from time to time with your perspective on current events. US media coverage of the entire region is shamefully small, almost nonexistent most of the time, so it’s very easy for us to forget about what’s happening. It’s like nothing south of Mexico matters at all to the media companies up here.
