Plus, those guys are clearly midgets. I mean little people. Hobbit like.

I’ve tried a couple of times to start a Sketchup project to model a major building (I would love to do a gothic cathedral, but I started with Palladio’s La Rotunda for something simpler). Even trying to do just the basics, I also ran into a lot of frustration trying to wrangle Sketchup to do what I wanted. But I also don’t think I had the patience to go through a ton of YouTube tutorials beforehand. Funny you guys brought this up right when I was considering taking it up again.

wisefool – I guess we can’t give a resounding recommendation for Sketchup, but it’s probably going to be more accessible than some other CAD program, but ultimately limited.

Are we referring here to Tolkien’s Smaug? I had no idea his length was described so specifically. In the movies you’d think he was 100 ft. long.

They’re talking about Smaug-the-croc, as referenced here.

The Internet says that the Atlas of Middle Earth says that Smaug-the-fire-drake is about 20 meters long, though.

Some days you have an invisible ā€œKick Meā€ sign on your back and the world kicks it all day.

Details, if you want to share. Otherwise, sorry to hear it. Be strong.

After the success of Twitch Plays Pokemon, Fish Plays Pokemon, and Fish Plays Street Fighter, I’m thinking about starting a new project: A Million Random Digits with 100,000 Normal Deviates Plays Pokemon.

Unfortunately, it does not appear to be available as an e-book.

I am screwed. I’m sitting on my porch in the pouring rain. And I’m thinking:

Well this will either become a real rain storm or it will stop.

I live in Florida. I am now actually one of them. If I was in NYC I would be cursing this torrential downpour. But here, I sit on the porch having a cigarette, and the rain is blowing onto me. And I wonder if it will get bad.

Help me.

Have another sip of scotch. Ponder some more. Repeat as necessary.

Google Earth has rendered the ā€œsceneryā€ photo obsolete. I’m in Amsterdam last week for business, riding a bike around, looking at the canals and Europe-type buildings and I’m thinking ā€œthat’s nice, I’ll take a pictureā€. But then I thought ā€œwhat’s the point, I can street-view it anytimeā€ and so I don’t take pictures. When I get home, I street-view it, and I was right. (Obviously doesn’t apply if you’re putting people you know into said pictures).

I seem to have found many Starblazer related things.

Watched Space Battleship Yamato and it was really good.

Found an updated Season 1 series. It’s quite good.

Also read a rumor there may be an American Starblazer movie in the works.

As a fan of the Starblazers franchise, I am quite happy this week.

(Gonna watch DBZ: Battle of Gods tonight, still happy)

Become one with the rain!

I get serious happy vibes when one of those misty winter rains show up. The kind that reminds me of snow in rain form. When it’s not too cold out but the rain drops which almost float around are nice and chilly. That’s a great time, just taking a walk around the gloaming.

I’m waiting for crock-pot lasagna to finish cooking.

What did the dyslexic Amish farmer have for breakfast?

Raisin Barn!

I just received some Szechuan pepper corns I ordered. I like Szechuan pepper corns.

Putting a ton of szechaun peppercorns into a dish and then serving it to an unsuspecting victim is a good prank. It once happened to me on accident (ordered chinese takeout, they used waay too much), and my mouth got all weird and numb. Thought I was having a stroke or something until I sifted through the container and noticed the metric shit-ton of the peppercorns they used.

Heh, ya, the tingly/numb sensation is the point of them… It’s awesome when combined with really hot stuff, as it ends up kind of balancing it out somehow.

I looked it up once to try and figure out how it worked, and apparently scientists don’t really KNOW how it works.

So I figured I should eat it.

I’m waiting on crock pot chicken and potatoes.

Love the shit out of my crock pot. This weekend I made the kids corned beef hash in it. Served up with eggs and toast. Last week I made beef stew, the week before cheesy steak and potato soup.

There’s so many awesome things to slow cook all day!
