Real-life lightsaber?

How can they tell who blinds airline pilots with lasers?

Well, I think that the inherent coolness of a laser and its ability to make things go all sparkly and to shoot visible beams through the air makes it a lot more dangerous than any pellet gun or slingshot because of the likelihood of idiots messing with them who don’t realize or don’t care about the danger.

But however if we start regulating slingshots and lasers, pretty soon there will be laws requiring you to register your anti-materiel rifles and personal defense rocket launchers, and you know: slippery slope, cold dead fingers, commies, UN troops, really dangerous deer, the second amendment and all that.

The kind of idiot who blinds a pilot will likely still be standing there waving the laser around by the time the police eventually show up.
