Very nice. I’ll gladly buy it a second time on Xbox.

Hopefully the difficulty curve has been smoothed out a bit at the start of the game. I need to get back to my PC playthrough. Last I left the game, I think I was trying to transport something from one corner of the map to the other.

Very nice! Glad it’s coming to all consoles at the same time.

Sooo, I sort of dropped out of following this game once it went exclusive on Epic. How did it turn out? Was it the space game that everyone hoped and though it would be? I’m interested again and have put it on my wish list though my price point is going to be significantly lower than if I had been able to buy it upon initial release.

As pretty much mentioned before, it was Privateer 2019, with all that you’d expect from such a thing.

Difference is a better soundtrack and flight model/controls built around a gamepad (which totally works - it’s still turn fighting WW2 in space but less annoying).

Great game that for some reason I never got around to finishing.

Yup, have over 100 hours in it, still return to it regularly to fly my beloved Beluga, and it’s the best space dogfighter since Freespace 2.

I quite liked the feel of the game, combat is great, and the auto-turn feature is fantastic and doesn’t take away the “point” of flying a spaceship, if you know what I mean. It takes out the annoying endless circling and lets you focus on the good stuff like aiming, knowing when to hit the jets, etc.

As a Privateer-ish gamer it was good but I felt like I ran out of new ships to play with much faster than I wanted and just ended up wanting moar. I can’t comment on the story because I don’t care about that sort of thing and don’t remember it aside from the fact that I thought it was real cool Travis voice-acted so much as well. The guy is a real Renaissance Man.

My final verdict is that it was quite fun but didn’t hold my interest for too long. I would have snatched up some DLC ship packs or something, but totally understand if that’s not something Travis wanted to do or not something that was really economical.

I want this but I want to play with mouse and keyboard. Is that a good way to play too?

I absolutely loved Privateer. I played with a joystick. I’d play that way too with this if I had one.

Yes, I have played it only with m+k, works great.

It’s completely playable that way, but I always recommend gamepad over everything. So if you have an XBox One or PS4 gamepad lying around… that’s the ideal control mechanism, for a variety of reasons.

Wait a sec? Switch version? I thought that wasn’t happening? I’ll admit i haven’t been following much sense I heard no more DLC (For shame!)

Hot Damn! I can play on the pooper! (let’s be honest, this is why autofollow was created, amirite?)

Seriously, pretty excited about buying another copy all the sudden. Should be a perfect fit for portable (or potable as I call it) play.

Just play with a gamepad people. Haven’t we all gotten past the only using KBM on PC? This isn’t a FPS, there is no good reason to try and play without a gamepad.

LOL without the audio, I’m totally taking this as “I can play on 2 systems at the same time!” Even though I know it’s not.

I just ran into a dude on my Discord who has a gamepad but refuses to use it. I can’t even.

It’s such an old tired and lame argument born of the days when PC vs console arguments were cool. (they never were). I grew up playing PC games with joysticks…JOYSTICKS! A gamepad is like something I used to dream of while getting blisters working some giant metal monstrosity.

I haven’t played consoles in nearly 20 years. I find all the buttons on a gamepad a bit confusing. I’m not saying I can’t learn, but I’m not sure I want to learn. I have tons of PC games I can play.

I also don’t have a gamepad so I’d have to buy one. If this game should be played with a gamepad, I’ll continue to pass for now.

Why should you care? And no, some of us haven’t "gotten past’ a KBM. Deal with it :)

You can play it however you like - I’m just saying what I think the best way to play is. shrug

It took me a long time to get into console gaming and controllers. And it would likely take you a few hours to get comfortable with them in RGO.

But, in my humble opinion, this kind of training is worthwhile as it opens a world of analogue inputs for your gaming. When you want to creep forward in an open world game, or apply just the right amount of thruster or turn in a space game like RGO (and enjoy some rumbling feedback when you get hit? Not sure whether RGO does that), a controller is a great way to interact with the game.

It’s a discussion that’s been had many times over many games, so I’m not looking to rehash which games feel best with which control scheme. But learning to use the controller, once you have gone past the growing pains, could give you more fun and immersive experiences in some games. Whether that’s worth it to you is definitely up to you though.

I’m looking forward to the console release. I think it’s going to be a fun time space hauling.

Yeah, it’s not a console v PC thing (or shouldn’t be). Some types of game just play better with a gamepad. And others play better M+K.
