Oh I don’t care all that much. I just want folks to enjoy the Right way to play ;)
I get the haven’t used one in years a little but just give it a try. It’s like riding a bike and you won’t start teabagging people and talking like a millennial I promise.
The I have ton’s of games to play that don’t need it is lame though. It reeks of get off my lawn.
Lying on a big ass bed, with a wireless controller, playing a game on a big ass TV is an experience you shouldn’t cheat yourself out of. It opens up a whole new world of laziness/comfort meets gaming.
I don’t “care” if you do this, I just feel sorry for you if you don’t.

I found it to be utterly bland and soulless. Couldn’t make it more than a few hours in, and it was probably the most disappointing game I played last year.

I conflated the release date for the Xbox version of this game with the release date for season 2 of The Boys, and boy was I let down when I realized this game isn’t actually in the Xbox store yet, and won’t be for several more weeks.

Different strokes and all that, but I don’t the “soulless” complaint at all. The soundtrack, the feel of flying the ships, all the details put into the cockpits… I don’t know how you walk away feeling like it was soulless. While I didn’t stick with the game long, I thought it oozed character.
Can you talk about some of them? I really liked the 2d-plane combat with big ships from the first game, and I don’t think there’s anything else quite like it on the market. I’m really curious if it’s just a matter of preference/differing direction going forward, or if there’s something specific to that style of game and/or setting.
This is out on consoles and Steam today. Looking to pick it up on Xbox - does it have any enhancements for Xbox One X over regular XBO?

Had some time to play tonight. I did the first few story missions right up until they needed me to leave my starting system (Texas). I have 35k or so and can afford a jump drive right now, but I’m still grinding out more upgrades for my ship first with the randomly generated mission board stuff.
So far I’ve installed a tractor beam and have upgraded my primary weapon, armor, and installed an ECM. Combat controls felt natural to me so I hit the ground running from the get go.
I was surprised to see a working pool mini game in the bar. Hopefully later systems allow me to wager more than 300 credits.
I’ve decided to stay friendly with the law right now, so I’m not taking any pirate-issued missions or picking up illegal cargo. I got scanned and destroyed by the police once at the Sutter(?) Station because after blowing up a pirate ship I picked up the adrift pirate, thinking I could ransom him or turn him in for a reward. He was the only thing in my cargo bay at the time, so I’m assuming he’s the reason the police lasered my face off. In the future I’ll have to pay better attention to what qualifies as illegal cargo.
Oh, and one of the songs in the soundtrack sounds like a faux-not-quite-cover of this song (well, it was either a faux-rendition of this song or some other White Stripes song, I’m not the biggest fan of the group). I don’t know what these types of songs are called, but they show up in TV shows a lot, and my brain always short circuits when I expect a riff, beat, or melody to go one way, but it goes a very slightly different way.

They will. For a while I was just playing pool. Made some reasonable cash that way.

I usually lost in Pool, so it was a cash sink for me.
That damned black ball at the end.

I was playing a lot. I got gud. :)
Edit: you can also win weapons and components at certain bars.
Wondering if there’s an issue with achievements in the game. I got tot the point where you leave the Texas system to make a delivery, and in the process I got the achievement for meeting up with Richter - me and everybody else apparently:

And then scraped together the cash to buy a jump drive and head to Nevada, but didn’t get the achievement for leaving the Texas system - me and everybody else apparently:

Yes yes, achievements who cares, ha ha. Just something I noticed.
edit: Because why not, I figured I’d see how the other platforms looked. Appears nobody has it on Playstation either:

or Steam:

So maybe I’m a dummy and this achievement isn’t for what I think it is, it’s something else totally. Or maybe it’s a global issue, who knows.

How do I engage my sub-light engines when I need to escape a bunch of pirates? I understand autopilot is disabled, but is there no way to manually engage sublight and zoom the hell out of there? Normally I can use the right-bumper, but that does nothing when I’ve got a bunch of guys following close, as the context menu just goes away and the functionality along with it.

Yeah, running away is really hard. Mostly you just have to frantically try to communicate with each enemy and offer peace. If one of the them says yes, they turn into friendlies and you can survive and leave. But if they say no, your only chance it to keep turning and hitting the afterburner and trying to target a different enemy and offering peace.

You can boost far enough away to engage sub light on some enemies. Ship speed and all that.
Rock8man

Yes, I was talking about the starting ship with the starting speed. I never got enough money to buy another one.

Kerzain - you can also shift power to engines from the command menu. Also if you carry some cheap stuff in your hold and you use the drop cargo radio option they are MUCH more likely to break off. Both of those make it easier to get distance and just leave.
