I hear he is going to be the new Mandalorian.

And by hear I meant read on twitter.

I was reading my own post on twitter.

Because I just made that up.

Does the RG franchise belong to him or a publisher?

I narrate audiobooks, and I love it a lot. It is an unbelievably warm and fuzzy industry too, which is a pretty pleasant contrast.

It belongs to Double Damage, which I co-own and still will continue to exist. It just won’t make anything new. So, I still have ownership on that end.

I’m still playing some of this every day. I’ve been doing mission board stuff and bounties this week and I’ve unlocked the Coyote fighter (the top fighter ship I see in the newbie systems). Except for the 220k rank 4 power plant (which I’m buying in a few minutes), I’ve equipped all the highest tier stuff I can get in and around the Texas system.

I’m not a fan of doing missions 3 or more jumps away (because of all the jumping), so I haven’t paid any mind to the campaign just yet. But now that I’ve pretty much seen what Texas and its surrounding systems have to offer I’m ready to push off into the great beyond.

I haven’t spent much time playing the bar games just yet, and only go there right now for news on Bounties, but when I get to further sectors I’m hoping to make and win huge bets at pool etc.

I’m also hoping to find more effective Repair bots later in the game. The starter one in the newbie systems takes so long to fully (minus armor etc) repair a damaged ship (10~15 minutes real time), it actually costs me more money to wait for it than simply paying for repairs and completing missions and bounties in that same amount of time. It’s also possible they’re best used in mining ships instead of fighters always on the go.

I haven’t tried mining yet, since I’ve been bounty hunting this whole time, but I will probably give that a shot after I’ve explored and followed the campaign a little more.

If I had one complaint it would be that the ship’s computer voice doesn’t seem to be tied to Dialogue volume and I can’t hear it well during battle. Without it I find it difficult to know when missiles are coming, or armor has been breached etc and I have to ramp combat volume way up to hear it on my speakers. It’s a lot easier with headphones though so I’ve just been using those. But headphones are as easy fix, and I’m sure my wife and cat both appreciate them.

Is there some trick to using the tractor beam? It says it is undamaged, but I get no indicator of a button to push when I get close to this lockbox I’m supposed to pick up for a mission so I keep bumping into it.

There shouldn’t be, no, it should just do its thing.

I think it was a misunderstanding on my part. I guess I need to go around and scan multiple of these things for the mission and eventually there will be something to pick up. The tractor beam just worked for me fine when picking up some debris from a pirate.

Ohhhh yeah you gotta scan the thing down to tractor it.

This is one game that the move to Epic ended up costing them a sale. I would have bought this upon release but now it seems that Everspace 2 has just passed this game by.

Oh, they’re are dissimilar enough to get both imo. Plus RG has the killer soundtrack!

Anyone tried it on Switch? I have it on my wishlist but Baldree wont discount it. :)

Interesting comparison, especially since the creators of Everspace 2 have baldly stated that they’re not out to create space-sims in the ES games but rather action games.

I mean they both take place in space and involve shooting things, but I don’t think ES2 is stealing any of RG’s thunder

glares at Grifman It isn’t.

I haven’t played ES2, but if it’s anything like ES1, they’re fundamentally different games.

Well, I would say that ES2 is fundamentally different than ES1 and that difference does move it more towards something like RGO. Still quite different experiences, though, in my opinion.

Not dissimilar enough for me. I’m not a big player of space flight games and Everspace 2 just looks more fun to me.

It’s nothing like the original. They moved to more of an open world, space flight/ARPG style of game, not the on rails shooter ES1 was. Fundamentally deliberate design decision.

I guess it depends upon your level of comparison. I’m not a big player of these games so I’m looking at them from a fairly high level. Both have spaceships which you can acquire and outfit with equipment, you can find/steal/acquire stuff and sell it. Maybe if I like ES2, I’ll try out RGO, but since I am going to get just one (at least for now), then I inevitably have to compare them.

Ah, I see. I will say that RGO is very “Texan/Southwest” in its sensibility, which makes it a bit unique in that respect.

Yeah, I was going to say that I haven’t played ES2 so I can’t comment on it, but one thing RGO definitely has going for it is style. Definitely a wild west/Firefly kind of vibe.

GASP THEY DO?
