I just don’t know what you expect they’re going to do with it that GoG isn’t.

Yea I’m a bit embarrassed at the general paranoia and lack of understanding of outside investor vs. operator. If this were a Chinese free-to-play MMO running direct under ten cent - yea you’re probably giving half your data away, outside of that - no. Especially for a person like Tim Sweeney.

Wait a year and buy it on Steam then.

Meh. Your radio voice is too good so it’s no point arguing with you. I just don’t like the smell of the EGL. Or, after having every ounce of personal information I have already scraped by oligarchs, I’m putting my foot down here. Or something about Fortnite being part of the decline of western civilization.

At any rate, looking forward to playing this in a year.

And:

It’s called “Fortnite”.

Thanks much. I’ll check it out.

That has no bearing on this game. I just think it’s a shame the discussion keeps getting diverted away from what appears to be a fabulous game. It’s got to be so frustrating and wearying for @tbaldree to deal with this in light of what should be a victorious moment for him and his team.

For a start you need Windows 10 Pro (or Enterprise). It won’t work on Windows 10 Home.

I mean, I totally anticipated a certain amount of ‘I would much rather have it on Steam and I am annoyed with you that it isn’t for 12 mos’ -

but ‘spyware for the Chinese government’ I admit came out of left field and I remain baffled.

@tbaldree , any chance there will be a Humble store option to get a Epic key for this?

I know Humble and now even GMG are selling Epic store keys for certain other games on the Epic store.

People are really upset about the epic store. After hundreds of pages in the dedicated thread and a detailed summary in the first post of that thread, I still don’t get why they feel so strongly about it.

I haven’t even looked into it!

Change. It was the same deal with Steam. In fact there are still people screaming about steam who refuse to buy from them because of various silly excuses. Gamers seem to really hate change.

I have Windows 10 Pro because I upgraded from a Windows 7 Ultimate key, so not a problem for me, and I got the Win 7 Ultimate key for free at a launch event back when it came out, for being an “information professional” or something. They weren’t checking that too closely-- I guess they just wanted asses in seats, because my “information professional” credentials are that I work with a Windows computer at work, which pretty much anyone who works in an office does, heh.

Oh now don’t get that started polluting the Rebel Galaxy Outlaw thread. Just safe to say some people really care about the epic store and they aren’t putting on a show. And just leave it at that!

Would the idea there be that you’re not giving your cc number to Epic?

I’m not going so far as “Chinese spyware” but this isn’t that great of an argument given all the backpedaling he’s had to do or just straight up contradictory statements around EGS. I’ll gladly check out the game in a year or so.

Correct. And I believe humble still gives to charity. As for GMG, they are giving out $5 store vouchers with the purchase of Epic store games at full price.

I also like the idea that “you have to give your financial info to a chinese company”. Are there still credit card companies that don’t have virtual card numbers?

My credit card number I have on the epic store (and steam and others) are specific to that store and toggled off until I want to use them.

How many days til RGO comes out?

By my calculation, 25 days, right? This coming Tuesday is the 23rd, the next is the 30, then the 6th, then the glorious 13th.
