Watched Part 2 Director’s Cut. I looked at the budget and Wikipedia says US$166 mil for two movies, I guess it is ok considering the budget. They can save a bunch by dialing down the lens flare in post.
Part 2 is ok, a homage to Seven Samurai in the Warhammer 40k universe. I assume the battle sequences are all green screen and mocap, but they actually feel like not green screen and chaotic, unlike, say, Avenger Endgame where the final battle sequence felt totally all green screen and very fake.
PS: I never watched the original cut, so really can’t say if it is worth your time if you have already suffered once with the original cut.
Watched part 1 directors cut today, its actually better than the original release and actually completes story archs that felt dropped off in the original cut. Its not great, but its good and worth a watch if you didn’t hate it the first time around (which i didn’t). Makes me want to play Rogue Trader again, but I’m waiting till the expansion later this month.
Do we get more of the Anthony Hopkins robot, or does he still just fuck off into the woods and abandon the rest of the movie after saving the girl in the barn?
We do get a lot more of him, using him for Hopkins does best, bloated exposition. I accepted it, even enjoyed it.
I’m only halfway through movie 2. This is a 6-7-hour endurance con. I like the story well enough, the additional detail works and closes out story threads previously only hinted at, it just feels way longer than it needs to be, I’m noticing Synder has 2 modes, sub-2-hour visual spectacles, or double that for an actual story.
Well, you do get 2 gratuitous naked sex scenes with her in the extended cut, if that appeals to you. Synder apparently really likes breasts
Also the ‘Zach Snyder’s Not Star Wars!’ extended version has a lot of light saber battles added for not being Star Wars. Im sounding like i hated it, i didn’t. It was a fun pop corn movie with stories added. Decent, not great, but I’m itching to play Rogue Trader again, so mission accomplished.
Nah, that’s why I append the “cute little” moniker. My affection for certain actresses is weirdly paternal instead of sexual. Boutella’s a beautiful woman and an amazingly sexy dancer, but she’s also a very uncertain actor and I kinda feel sorry for her most of the time for being in over her head. But she’s had some great roles! I say my attraction isn’t sexual, but ye gods, her scenes with Charlize Theron in Atomic Blonde!
Oh, you don’t have to sell me! I think you and I might be the only two in the thread who appreciate Zach Synder’s “vision”, or whatever you want to call his breathlessly clumsy adolescent enthusiasm for cinematic stories beyond his reach as a filmmaker. : )
