Yeah to this day my brother always drives in any coop games we play ( I’m terrible at that) but when we see a chopper we don’t even discuss it, I jump in the pilot seat and he hops in the other. We’re playing Far Cry 5.5 together and I love flying nap of the earth and scaring him. ;)

You guys might give DCS a go. F-14 excels as a coop experience. No smoke&mirrors DC (yet) but it can be plenty busy in regular scripted missions. Or if you want you can play the slightly janky DCE mission generator but that takes a little more doing. For the full monty go on the blue flag MP server as a pilot/rio team and win the war for blue.
…and the Spit Ia has just been added to http://www.wingsoverthereich.com/
Worth buying now for us PvE enthusiasts, I think
Dangit, it might be time.
I picked it up. The two WO* games may use some seriously creaky tech, but the single-player just doesn’t get any better and I like to reward that kind of effort.
That’s why I buy their stuff, even if I never have time to play it.
And BMS 4.34 is out now: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?35505-Falcon-BMS-4-34-Full-Installer
Speaking of single player, it’s worth noting that every aircraft in that BMS teaser is AI.
I know it’s how they make money, but I wish ED would stop releasing new modules for a while once the hornet is done, and just focus on bringing the DCS AI and ATC up to par with BMS.
This requires a skill set beyond technical engineering excellence, which our friends from the East haven’t demonstrated since the first days of Su-27 Flanker 1.0. Big on building stuff that doesn’t go beyond mechanistic, systemic checklists. Not so big on stuff that requires imagination or thinking outside of a box. Utilitarianism vs. romantic.

A change may be in the offing as they are now owned by unrepentent romantics (The Fighter Collection) and helmed by someone who at least understand some of the romance of flight (Wags).
They are working on improving ATC comms, first for the carrier and later for airfields too. Still, it seems the Falcon guys are lightyears ahead of them in this aspect. Bully!
Hello my flight simming friends!
This is pretty fun! Hope you guys are all well.
a bit of fun
I don’t see why DCS doesn’t hire Pavloski to remake DCS’s awful, no-good AI.
Is single player really a focus of DCS? It isn’t based on everything I’ve seen.
It depends. I play a lot of single player - exclusively so. There is still plenty of fun to be had mastering the plane and flying against the AI.
Well, this is true. I’m just jonesing for planes-wot-go-fast action with tech newer than Strike Fighters and less goddamn switchology navel-gazing than BMS. Housefans in WOFF and WOTR sometimes don’t cut it.
There’s AI, and there’s realistic AI. Watching an F-5 do 20G maneuvers is just… well. DCS never lets you forget you’re flying against terminator drones that have difficulty doing things like landing.
Oh gosh, could you imagine if these folks did a Korean War sim next?
/weeps for the abandoned Rowan’s MiG Alley
You know, I’d be happier with something with a few more pew-pew’s in the air. For example, I like the Vietnam campaign in SF2, because I can take my F8 up against MiG 19s. There’s gunology, but there’s also primitive IR seekers and crappy SARHs flying around, too. Not really great on the whole “dynamic campaign” thing though.
Yom Kippur or 6 Day War would make short, sweet campaigns.
Oh god right? I’m still so sad about Mig Alley.
I just mentioned Korean War because they seem to be, so far, moving chronologically. They could totally skip it and do Vietnam. Or something like the Falklands.
That is fair.
You just reminded me I wish I had friends.
… cries in the corner …
