Time for a very pretty trailer to celebrate 2020:
I just flew the last of the MiG-19’s campaign, Crime and Punishment. I wanted to AAR it, all of it for you guys, but the track replays all went bonkers. Missiles going into empty skies where they blew bandits apart the first time, that kind of shit.
Still the flying was hella fun. That’s one hotrod soviet jet, the Farmer.

This is my current cockpit setup. I replaced the thrustmaster warthog base with a very expensive, very good unit built in the former Soviet union. Also extended the stick a bit further. It is now as tall as a real fighter jets’ stick, such as the one in the mirage 2k. I can now shoot the left nut off a gnat at 1.5 kilometers.
Sad to see my ghetto sewerpipe stick mount go, but these wood scraps are fine too :)
Welcome to the Virpil club :)

Thank you, I didn’t know my gunnery could become that much deadlier! Ka-pow go the fokkers!
Speaking of fokkers, I have two promo codes, one for 50% off of flying circus or Bodenplatte and one for 75% the older stuff. PM me if you want one.

How is Flying Circus coming along?

Great fun. No metagame to speak of thus far but a few scripted campaigns.
Me, I need nothing beyond the “there I was…” quick mission builder. It’s a Sopwith camel. In VR.
The map is gorgeous, but low over the trenches, obvious concessions are made to keeping the thing running fluidly.
This is available now? What’s the functionality? Time to dust off my Biggles books!

It is pretty bare bones to be honest. It’s a bunch of planes and a map that slot into your il2 BoX install. They are all 1918 machines, so no ridicilous DH.2’s or anything like that.
There’s no career mode, so there’s not much sp content. Like I said, QMB is enough for me TBH. Want that code mate?

If using vr and hotas isnt enough for how about:

Oh my. That’s awesome! I wonder if it could cope with the sort of quick changes in direction a YaK-3 or F-16 can generate. Those pistons don’t look hefty enough to accelerate my 190pounds of meat and bone in anything approaching fighterlike manner.
Can’t believe I somehow missed your reply!! Still on offer?

I don’t know if it’s still valid… hang on.
Edit: alas, expired the 16th.

DCS is letting you fly almost all of their planes for free for the next month. (JF-17 is only two weeks.)
Just took the only plane I don’t own, the JF-17, for a spin. Looks amazing in VR – that refueling probe right outside of the cockpit is really cool. Might have to try an air-to-air refueling mission before it expires. It’s a cool plane, but I have enough of an aerial backlog that I’m not tempted to buy it at close to full price.

Jeff also has a bunch of really cool toys to play with: datalinked TV guided cruise missiles, the best medium range fly swatter, laser guided rockets that come in pods of 16 or 18 rounds, etc.
Thanks for the offer mate! It’s the thought that counts. :)

So what machines are all of you trying? How do you like the terrains you didn’t own yet?
Me, I don’t like to fly axis planes, so leaving those, I only had the I-16 left out, mighty ishak of glorious 1932 design. After one flight I knew enough to decide they earned my two tenners for it.
Now my DCS hangar is complete. Not that I’m proficient with all of them. I have hardly touched Jeff at all, and am breaking my head on viggen.
