Wandered into a random pawn shop today, and ended up picking up a 1st-Gen Oculus Rift for $300. Assuming it works, now maybe I’ll get to see what my boy schurem is always panting about.

Congrats! Damn thing converted me the moment I fired up DCS Hornet. Was like sitting in a cockpit at an aeronautic museum. Hope you have a similar positive experience with whatever title you try.

Nice. I reckon you will really enjoy it. It was transformative for me. Keep us posted!

Wow! Good for you old man! Did you get it to work? Did you try it with il2? VTOL VR? DCS? Did you get a headache? Puke a lot?

Yesterday was the investigation phase. Mainly I fiddled about with virtual desktop, controlsand stuff, although I did fire up BoX to the title screen so I could marvel at the Lightning in all its 3D glory in the hangar. I’ll try flying today.

Okay, yeah, so that’s totally a rule-changer. I put myself up in a Lightning on free flight, and the feeling of being one with the aircraft is absolutely marvelous. No airsickness, but definitely some head rushes when doing barrel rolls :)

Welcome to club bud. I’m really fucking happy to have you on board. Here, have a cool-aid.

Attention Pilots!

We are aware that many of you are sight-seeing in your Cessna or flying an Airbus today. We consider this activity a little perverse of course. Not that there’s nothing wrong with that, it’s just not our thing! However, with everyone being in a flying mood today, we have launched our REAL VIRTUAL PILOTS FLY COMBAT Sale with some mind-blowing savings on several Great Battles products.

If you’ve wish-listed any of our products on Steam or been thinking about grabbing one of these from our website now is the time to make your move! We’re almost giving them away. Get in the cockpit today and BECOME A WARRIOR NOT A TOURIST! Tell your General Aviation friends this hobby is much more than driving a bus with wings.

IL 2 is fantastic worth it at full price and even more so on discount.

Amen to that. It’s a great sim, and divine VR.

Boughtened. and a second copy for my son in case he wants to multicrew.

Oh, yeah, I should get some of the other modules for my son’s copy given the low prices! Once I get my new HP VR goggles we’re gonna do another round of dogfights…

Well, schurem, how’s the Syria map?? Because we all know you bought it.

It is absolutely gorgeous. The cities are beyond anything we ever saw in DCS, and my rig begs for mercy when I break windows with my jet. 1070.

The airbases are very interesting. Lots of meticulous detail, up to the slight undulations in the runway at Incirlik.

The best part about it is the rural landscape. It’s very wrinkly all along the coast, perfect to hide stuff in and little gulleys to zip along. The trees and such are perfectly scaled, as are the many olive groves and clusters of greenhouses.

This gives a fantastic sense of speed and altitude. Never has DCS felt faster to me, even as my computer struggles to pump out frames enough to feed the rift.

I should save the money for a big SSD, where DCS and my other super-long-load-time games can live, but I want to spend it on the Syria map.

That’s a mighty good price for the standard edition, I had no choice but to scoop it up.

I’d reccommend Warthunder and it does have arcade to realistic modes. as well as mutliplayer modes where you do NOT need to unlock airplanes. worth it even at ‘low’ tier level combat. also tanks, copters and ships!
