Recommend me some 3ds marketplace games and stuff

I just got back into the 3DS thanks to the new animal crossing game after years way from it. Now that I have access to wifi on it, can anyone suggest some neat things from the Nintendo marketplace or other games? There was something people raved about on the WiiU. Is all that stuff available on 3DS as well?

Note - I don’t like traditional platformer games.

Thanks!

eShop only:

PushMo is pretty good.
Sakura Samurai is ok.
There was a trio of games released in Japan as Guild01, that were released individually in the US. They were all interesting, but very different from one another (Crimson Shroud, Liberation Maiden, Aero Porter).
You might like the “art style” series of games, very bare bones mechanics focused puzzle games.

Denpa Men is apparently good. I should try it sometime.

The eShop has some of the worst discoverability imaginable. The real get is that Nintendo releases many of their 3DS releases as downloads, which means you can have a bunch of games available without worrying about cartridges. Of course, they’re tied to the hardware instead of an account, so if you lose your 3DS, you’re boned. (if you upgrade to a new 3DS, you can transfer licenses up to 5 times though).

For full price releases, there haven’t been a lot of surprises. Some general highlights:
Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars - not really a ghost recon game. Small squad turn based tactics, it basically plays like the new x-com.
Fire Emblem - It’s Fire Emblem. Now perma-death is optional.
SMT: Devil Survivor Overclocked - a re-release of a DS game, if you like tactics games, it’s pretty good.

Zero Escape - Follow up to the DS’s 999. Weird adventure game-y thing. There’s a save-game corrupting bug in it though, apparently.
Kid Icarus Uprising - This is a weird one. A rail-shooter with a very odd control scheme, and a surprising amount of loot drop style content.
Paper Mario Sticker Star - You probably already know if you’ll like this.
Professor Layton - You probably already know if you’ll like this.
SMT Soul Hackers - You probably already know if you’ll like this.
Etrian Odyssey IV - You probably…you get the picture.
Monster Hunter - See previous comment.
Code of Princess - A side-scrolling beat-em-up. Gets a little repetitive, but it’s a reasonable time waster. Don’t let anybody see the cover though.

BIT.TRIP.SAGA on sale until Sept 15 for $4.99. Reg $14.99. SIX GAMES.

That robot miner game, sorta like spelunky combined with one of the digging games is pretty good. I can’t remember the name though.

Steamworld Dig. Yeah, it is pretty good.

Just got my preorder copy of Etrian Odesey: Millenium Girl yesterday and spend some time with it.
Into the level 5 of stratum 1. Playing expert difficulty.

Impressions:

  1. Streamlines exploration. I really love the stairs jump in which you can jump directly to any level’s stairs provided you manually mapped the majority of the level. Manual mapping is done by drawing the boundaries (lines), the game still autofill travelled squares for you if you want (set in options).

  2. The revamped skill trees. Awesome. Now the skill tree is quite flat as opposed to deep (compared to previous games). So you are spoilt for choices in what to specialise in. Need more to to figure if some of the skills are duds at higher levels. I’m only level 13 currently.

  3. Cut-scenes. Make the story telling more compelling. Nice addition.

So far, very enjoyable. Also much less back tracking (due to stair jumps) compared to EO4.

Inazuma Eleven came out as an eShop exclusive for 3DS.
