Eh… metal bands of the ‘80s and ‘90s typically get ignored if I post in the rock threads. Those threads are apparently only for guys in suits with short hair who aspire only to be indie.

aka those threads get ‘trigger(cut)ed’

That sounds good ol’ classic Heavy Metal to me!

Right?! I think it’s awesome that band hasn’t lost a step thirty years later.

There’s a bit of a renaissance of both old and new bands that fit in the space between the heaviest of metals and straight up rock acts happening right now. I’m here for all of it. Corey Taylor’s latest, CMFT, is exactly the kind of thing I love to hear.

We finally got the chance to see Ghost in Fargo just before 2020 struck. First time seeing them live, and wow, it was fantastic. Glad to know they’re hitting the road again!

I remember Tobias Forge saying they were going to take 2020 off, and then when 2020 actually happened, I remembered that, and thought that he couldn’t have picked a better year to go on hiatus.

New Rage Album. I only heard them a few times, but I liked the singer’s voice

And new album from Brainstorm

Oh, I know that name. He participated in some Ayreon albums. That’s why it sounded familiar…

Downside of seeing them in a tiny club with a hundred or so extremely passionate fans is that Roy was pretty well drowned out during any of the popular songs. Mind, I’m sure the camera of my 2008-era flip phone wasn’t exactly well-equipped to handle the sonic environment, either. . .

Orbit Culture, Shaman available for streaming a day early.

That first 45 seconds, tho.

Edit: Mast of the World is amazing, imo.

That Dream Theater song has cringe worthy lyrics. The band is on point as always, though.

New Volbeat song today:

The advantage of not being an English native speaker! It’s easier for me to ignore the lyrics of any English song.

It’s happening! Bought tickets to 2 shows today. Opeth in November and Ghost in February!

Man the fees are such a scam. Still, I’m happy to be seeing music again!

Very good. Better than most of what was on the last record which fell totally flat for me. I love Rob Caggiano and was stoked when he joined the band as he was fantastic in Anthrax and his production and playing made We’ve Come for You All probably my favorite thing they’ve ever done.

Anyway, “Seal the Deal” was phenomenal but “Rewind” is much less so IMO. This new song sounds like a nice return to form.

As for shows @Wallapuctus, I saw The Struts two weeks ago today outdoors at The Mann in Philly. They were tremendous. It was so good to see live music again.

Went to see Seven Kingdoms, Aether Realm, and Unleash the Archers a couple of weeks ago and it was fucking amazing. Even got to hang out with the guys in AR briefly afterwards. It was a little nerve wracking - tiny venue, no crowd limits, and I was right up front, but so fuckin worth it. First time I’ve felt that happy in ages.

Bro this is what it’s about. Covid has been absolutely brutal on our mental wellbeing.

I have friends going with me to both shows and I can’t fucking wait. It’s going to be awesome.

New album in November. When it’s Phil and Tracii, they really can’t do any wrong… this is fucking phenomenal.

I shook hands with Phil Lewis some years ago after a show. He had the most amazing skin of any man I’ve ever met. LOL!

Yuppppp. Six of us wound up going to that show. Out of closer to 12 that we’d planned on originally, but very reasonably, lots didn’t feel comfortable with it yet cuz of the awful state of covid here in NC. Those of us who risked it had a fuckin blast together though.

Agreed. I’m glad we are hearing Caggiano’s influence showing in the writing.
