Day #13 - Artifex Pereo
I like the singer having a distinctive voice.
Day #14 - Ashes of Ares
I know this band because it’s the new project from Matt Barlow, ex-singer from Iced Earth. In fact it seems they will release a new album next Janurary, the song is from the single.
Yeah, I am very hopeful here. Matt’s got such a wonderful voice; it deserves to be heard.
Day #14 - Atomship

I lower the intensity to hard rock for Atomship, which reminds me somewhat of… Godsmack I guess?
edit: The wiki entry is something else…
Nathan Slade was the band’s original guitarist and songwriter until his tragic death in December 2009. The band was known as Watership Down in 2002, before changing their name due to copyright to Atomship that year. Due to original vocalist Derek Pardoe’s anxiety, Joey Culver took over his place as lead singer, and for the recording of their debut album The Crash of '47 , released in 2004. Atomship was later dropped from Wind-Up Records due to the betrayal of Joey Culver as he teamed up with the producer to go solo. This led to the band’s disbandment later that year. The original band members briefly reunited in 2017 with Jared Slade and performed several local shows[1] In 2006, Atomship reformed as AtomshipDown.[2] In 2010, AtomshipDown reverted their name back to Watership Down. In 2017, the band reformed Atomship with vocalist Joey Culver.
So Watership Down > Atomship > change of vocalist > singer anime betrayal > bad is disbanded > AtomhipDown > Watership Down > return of the betrayer singer
Day #15 - Avantasia
https://youtu.be/WCtk3fUoLF4
A metal opera project, created by Tobias Sammet, vocalist of the band Edguy. I think their first album is the best.
Strongly agreed there. Always wished they’d hit quite the same heights. But I do owe him for introducing me to both Jorn Lande and Bob Catley, two of my favorite vocalists ever.
Heh, similarly I owe them introducing me to Within Tempation, via Sharon den Adel.
Day #16 - Avenged Sevenfold

More nu-metal.
Funny story, I think I know this band because I listened to them in some videogame OST of a racing game. Maybe Flatout?
I don’t think they really qualify as numetal honestly. They have way too many harmony parts and solos that don’t really fit that bucket.
Day #17 - Ayreon
One of my faves, so I will allow a double video!
Ayreon is a musical project by Dutch songwriter, singer, musician and record producer Arjen Anthony Lucassen. Ayreon’s music is described as progressive rock, progressive metal[1] and power metal[2] sometimes combined with genres such as folk, electronica, experimental and classical music. The majority of Ayreon’s albums are dubbed “rock operas” (or “metal operas”) because the albums contain complex storylines featuring a host of characters, usually with each one being represented by a unique vocalist.
The Human Equation is one of my favorite albums.

There is a new Cynic album out!
Day #18 - Bad Salad
(Yes, we have reached B finally)
They are are a group of progressive rock/metal from Brazil.
You need to add some Accept to your Plex.

Day #19 - Baroness

Another famous name. Wiki says they are Sludge metal / alt metal / progressive metal. They have a signature ‘analog’ or even ‘garage band’ sound.
I liked the Blue Album and stuff prior to that.
I think the band members almost dying in a crash changed their music up somewhat.

I remembered some of the ups and downs of Cynic, but checking the Wikipedia page over the weekend after seeing this was released, they’ve had a crazy ride over almost 35 years and none of it appears to have been easy. Not that it is easy for any band, but whew.
What I’m learning with this idea of a daily video per band is that lots of bands almost died or have some dead member!

Day #20 - Black Mountain
Decidedly more on the psychedelic rock than in the metal category
