Day #83 - Kiko Loureiro

Ex-Angra, now Megadeth’s guitarrist, he has a few solo albums.
Day #84 - Killswitch Engage

I was going to put Rose of Shary, The end of Heartache, or something like that, but I couldn’t resist putting their Holy Diver cover. First, it’s great, and second, it’s a funny video.
Day #85 - King Crimson

Not metal (well, using three drummers is pretty metal), but important enough to make an exception.
Day #86 - Korn
Very appropriate as two days ago I noticed they released a new song :

And I think their 14th studio album in almost 30 years as a band. They are what turned me onto heavier rock after Grunge and I have always loved them. That first album was so sincere and heart wrenching and I identified with so much of it as a person in their early 20’s who was treated poorly and bullied in high school for nothing other than being skinny and unathletic with a high voice.
Any band that is around that long and that prolific won’t have a perfect catalog, but that they have stood the test of time and still fill up arenas is pretty astounding.
I still remember early on Davis said, “We want to be like KISS and put out an album every other year”. I thought there was not enough angst and depression in the world to do that for any significant period of time, but damned if they haven’t done it.
I know people shit on “nu-metal” constantly now, but I still love the genre along with many others in Rock. I don’t voraciously consume every KoRn release like I used to, but it makes me happy to see them soldiering on.
Wow, two actual metal bands in a row, on “K” no less
L will be “Lizzie Borden” or you’re trouble

Day #88 - Leaves’ Eyes

It’s a ‘second tier’ band imo, not as good in that Symphonic Metal subgenre as Nightwish for example, but it’s still can be listened to.

Day #89 - LIGHT THE TORCH

uh wait, this is a duplicate. They called themselves Devil you Know, which was #38. Light the Torch is the new name, though.

Day #90 - Lords of the Trident
Very power metal (or pirate metal?)
edit: actually, I went and bought the Patreon, to get the latest albums. Tons of good music for 6€.
They’re really great people, too. Last year when Unleash the Archers got stuck at the US border by a sudden change in policy for a few days and couldn’t make the first week of dates of their tour with Aether Realm and Seven Kingdoms, it obviously left the smaller bands in a pretty rough spot. LoT organized a benefit stream from their very cool filming venue (dimly) seen in that video, and played a long show with the other two bands and donated 100% of the evening’s proceeds to them. Wound up over $7,000, iirc, which is huge for their tier of success.
Day #91 - Lost Forever
Another Brazilian band. This one is pretty obscure (I really don’t remember why I have it on the first place).
Still on the ‘lost’ word…
Day #92 - Lost Horizon

Day #93 - Machine Head

Through the Ashes of Empires is my favorite album of theirs, a last two albums they made their sound more ‘hardcore’ and I lost interest.

I came to them during their two “nu-metal” album phase and I still enjoy those songs along with the stuff before and after. I may have mentioned this before, but, though I don’t have them in regular rotation, I have been to two of their “An Evening with Machine Head” shows where it is only them and no openers for 2.5 hours and both shows have been absolutely amazing. They just get up there and play without more than some flashing lights. Also, though sometimes over-the-top, I like how Flynn takes positions on certain subjects. Though, I know his demeanor has probably led to a lot of the more recent turnover in the band, that he has kept it going all these years, left Roadrunner Records had to get a deal with an English record company and then came back and is still going earns a lot of respect with me.
If it was announced they were touring again, I’d by tickets for a show here immediately.
And yeah, he also dicks around with their sound a lot, and I am not a fan of some of the directions, but still happy is is doing what he wants to do and putting music out there.
In day 94 we reach one of my favorite bands…
Day #94 - Mastodon
They have great music videos, btw.
Here it’s another one
