I’ve been enjoying last year’s Pharaoh album, ‘The Powers That Be’ a fair bit. Their first one in 9 years apparently, and there’s not a dud song on it. They do a good line in traditional metal if you’re that way inclined!
That sounds enjoyable, yeah. I’m actually getting tons of music since I started this ‘new video per day’ thingie.
Just to interject:
Is this metal? You’ve not lived until you’ve been racing along 80/90/94 on the Tri-State, going 80 mph on a hot summer day because the 18-wheelers go 80 and they will crush you otherwise. Roll down the windows to the hot wind blowing by, and crank Arc to 11 on the stereo, all the way from Gary, Indiana to Rockford and into Wisconsin!
Neil has a lot of great music, but Arc just blows my mind.
That’s sludgy in the vague form of stuff a lot of my local friends are into. It’s not super up my alley, but it’s at the very least in the outer metal strata, IMO.

Sorry Megadeath fans, but Dave Moustaine’s voice always left me cold. Hetfield wins!

I confess I didn’t even know who they were. I have them on my Plex because some collaboration they did with Isis?

Day #98 - Metallica
Another obscure band! :P
You know what, I haven’t listened them since a good while. I’m going to play Kil’em All.
Still their 3rd best album, and quite the revelation at the time! :)
You should also play Slayer’s ‘Show No Mercy’, which was a similar kind of classic ‘debut different to their subsequent albums’, also released in 1983. What a year. :)
Now I’m curious, what’s your no. 2 and no. 1 ? :P
PS In the end I listed to the new album of Star One, I hadn’t noticed it released past Friday.
Rather obviously, it’s ‘Ride the Lightning’ and ‘Master of Puppets’… :)
Hah, Master of Puppets was a given, but I wondered if maybe you liked And Justice… more than Ride the Lightning.
I do like ‘…and Justice’ as well, it’s number 4 behind 'Kill ‘em All’. The first four albums were basically my high school music formative years (along with many others of the era). :)
The rest of their catalogue after that, I lost interest. I still listened to and appreciated most of it, but I’d moved on to heavier pastures while they moved away from that.

…And Justice is their best album so naturally it should be included
Well as long as one of the first four is your top pick, you’ll get no real argument from me. :)

Same. While And Justice is top, Ride the Lightning second, its not like Master or Kill em All are that far behind either.
But you come at me with St Anger or some shit we are gonna have words. Words that sound like they are coming from a tin can on a string that they used to record it.
I still prefer St Anger or Death Magnetic to Load/Reload. And the Black album is also 75% borefest.

Not usually my thing, but hey, variety!
Funnily enough I think Load/Reload/Black Album are probably my top 3.
