Day #176 - Trivium

They have changed a bit over different albums, so each fan will have their own favorite ones.
Day #177 - Truckfighters
https://youtu.be/ASrptIfKfc8
Stoner rock, not metal, I know, but they have their heavy riffs in there.
It seems the singer has a new project apart from the band, with a heavier tone:

Another faux-proto-metal band
Day #178 - Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats
Day #179 - Unleash the Archers
Oh, they are from Vancouver. < insert joke about good natured Canadians >
And won a Juno award a couple of years back! God I love that band.
Day #181 - Vanden Plas

Another fairly new acquisition of mine, I don’t remember if I found them here on this forum or somewhere else.

You heard them from me :)
Day #182 - Volbeat
https://youtu.be/snItFJlBtTc
The description is apt:
Volbeat is a multi-platinum Danish rock band whose sound weds hard rock, classic metal, glam, punk, and rockabilly. Inspired by legendary performing and recording artists including Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash, they also freely admit to the admiration of bands such as AC/DC, Social Distortion, and Metallica.
Day #183 - Wheel
W already. We are at the end of the tunnel people.
edit: as a bonus, I discovered there is another ‘Wheel’ band, in the Epic Doom genre. Not bad.
Day #184 - Witch Mountain
One of my favorite random ‘small band’ discoveries that I had on the last years.
Day #185 - Withing Temptation

I think I I have never listened to them since they turned hard into the more pop/mainstream metal in the vein on Evanescence. It was a especially glaring case of ‘selling out’ as they had before a very unique symphonic metal sound.

I think I have to agree. I was a huge fan of Within Temptation up to and including the fantastic Black Symphony (Youtube link) CD/DVD they did with the full orchestra and many guests back in 2008. It was a fantastic performance, and looks and sounds awesome.
One could argue that their album The Unforgiving was where they started to sell out, but I’ve heard many folks declare that it started well before that. Regardless, I love The Unforgiving (Youtube link). It’s a great album with pop leanings and great hooks. However, my love of their music ends exactly there. Everything they’ve released after that just sounds like more of the same standard modern music that I am fatigued of listening to.
Same with Volbeat. They were once a favorite of mine. At some point, all their recent music sounds very similar from track to track, and something about the way the studio albums are recorded fatigues my ears and my mind.
I always thought that Volbeat were good, but were once of those bands that are ‘too homogeneous’. It’s hard to differentiate between tracks and albums, they always sound the same.
The same with Epica, beyond the first three albums.

For me the last real great album was The Heart of Everything. Beyond that nothing really grabbed me.
As for Epica you have to go at least Design Your Universe. Thats a killer album. Nothing has been the equal since, but I still quite liked Quantum Enigma and Holographic Principle.

Yeah, they’re much less interesting nowadays.
But this will always be a banger:
