I’m thinking everyone here has probably already seen this fascinating video:

The friendship of Elizabeth and various death metal singers still warms my cold heart.

I don’t like the direction of the music video a lot. The song is good.

Pay-what-you-want for 56 curated bangers from Mexico’s stoner/doom scene.

I did some random sampling of the songs and immediately got a contact buzz. Tossed 10 bucks over for this motherload of greenery I’ve never heard before.

I went to see Iron Maiden last night at the Centrum…err DCU Center in Worcester.

It’s my 6th time seeing them, almost all of them in the old barn. They were my first big arena show, and likely my last.

The set was, amazingly, awesome. It did remind me that as much fun as watching the YouTube vides are, feeling the heat from the flames 100’ away, and the music driving into my solar plexus is part of seeing a big arena show.

Bruce still has the pipes. He just sounded amazing and looked in good spirits. 'Arry is getting old, man. I know they all are, but after the 1st encore when he pulled his bass off he just looked gassed.

For a number of years, I was a roadie. About 10 min to sitting into my seat I went “I miss working shows.” That ended when I watched the crew fighting with all the inflatables. One of the cardinal rules of working shows is you never see the roadies (other than backline techs) on the stage during the show. At one point the stage manager was on the back riser fighting with the inflatable airplane trying to get it off the stage.

This is likely my last big show because I’m getting older, and thanks to Corona I really don’t like leaving the house. This shit is getting expensive, man, too.

My only real criticism is there were a handful of seats they had no business selling. The people there literally had a view of the curtain on the side of the stage by some of the backline gear.

I was also amazed that even in Mass, there were like 100 of us out if 18000 wearing masks.

Saw Maiden in Ottawa on Saturday. This was the 5th time seeing them, the first being the Powerslave tour in 1984.

Awesome show and the sound was excellent. So many people in the 40-60 age group. I took both my sons, we all went crazy when the Spitfire came out on Aces High.

The Spitfire at my show needed viagra.

Maybe it is the rare “flapping-wings” Spitfire.

Must’ve been a rough day over the Channel.

I saw Diamond Head and Saxon yesterday. It’s always nice to be reminded of how fricken awesome Biff Byford is on stage. There are a lot of good frontmen from that era, but no one controls a crowd the way he does.

Where were you in '79 when the dam began to burst? Me, I did not exist!

Were you wearing denim, wearing leather?

No I was a baby.

I’ve been listening to the entire Iced Earth discography in the last two weeks. What a solid band, very good album consistency.

Pity the lead going cray cray on Jan 6th and the band getting dissolved. Then again, when the album with the civil war epic also had a ‘Don’t tread on me’ song, well, hindsight in 20/20 as they say…

Hey, babies can be stylish and cool too!

Yeah a shame because I really loved Glorious Burden, but haven’t listened to it since then because Fuck Schafer.

Architect’s new album dropped the other day.

Fuck yes

Apple has been adding Atmos mixes of metal albums
and holy shit is it amazing. Was listening to Impera (Ghost) and just a great spatial mix, making great use of surround channels. The new Lamb of God album sounds great too. Bring on all of the Atmos mixes!

Later day edit: Wow my phone butchered the formatting up there. Anyway now that I can type more: Way back when there were two premium formats called Super CD and DVD-Audio. I actually had bought a DVD player specifically for the DVD-Audio format. I got one disc, that was Dark Side of the Moon. Sounded awesome, but who wanted to pay more for music? There also weren’t many metal choices for me. So I ended up with maybe 1 other disc and that was it. This is like that, but on streaming a zillion choices, and even more full of sound.

One of the all-time great metal records, the Basque/Spanish compilation Descarga Norte.

Almost too much goodness to fit on one album.

Welp, guess I’m flying to the Netherlands next September to see Ayreon perform 01011001 live with almost the full original voice cast.

Now I’ve only got to figure out where to stay, how to get there, how to renew me passport, and how to pay for all the rest of it, hahaha oh god what have I done

Nice. That is very tempting and would love to see Damian Wilson. Wish it were a couple weeks earlier as we are still deciding on wether to go over to the Netherlands or up to Scandinavia next August for rest of our vacation. Wonder if I could work remotely for a few weeks.

And suddenly, a new Gojira song
