You’re not wrong, they barely get to sing any of it.
They have so many amazing songs. “Excerpts From a Future Past” is nothing but gold.
“Conundrum” kinda bounced off me, but they play “Carry On” and it sounds a lot better live. “Tear of a Traitor” is also frustratingly great.
I’m sure they’ll be touring the US before long. I can’t imagine they aren’t getting offers.

Looks like the Pantera reunion tour is opening for some of the Metallica dates. Would love to see that (I was lucky enough to see them live in 93) tour, but nothing announced for CO as of yet.
I am no expert of Katatonia, but I liked this
This is pretty nice to my ears. Some sweet doomy blackened death from Denmark, with a nice thick riffy sound.
Strychnos - A Mother’s Curse
Mah boys!
Strychnos used to be “the best band that hasn’t put out an album” back in my zine days. They didn’t end up dominating as much as we thought they would, but it’s one of those names that still gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.
The best demo I ever got was these dudes:
They developed into a band called Deus Otiosus, which is a far slicker, more conventional thing. I fucking loved them as Hideous Invasion.
Just raw ugly garage death metal, the way Evil Chuck intended.
Both those tracks are great! I do concur, Hideous Invasion has that rawer, filthier, thrashier edge that appeals to me. :)
With many thanks to @John_Many_Jars for introducing me to this awesome band.
I’m still trying to locate a reasonably-priced copy in any format. Apparently around $60 is the going rate for a used CD, and I have no idea if it even came out on vinyl.
New Deströyer 666 album Never Surrender released the other week.
A bunch of catchy, driving, semi-blackened thrashy songs here.
Here’s a second sample song:

Really enjoying the new Insomnium with the vocalist from Rotting Christ. I picked up tickets for David Cross yesterday for my SOs birthday and see today Insomnium is playing the same night. Tough choice

Not sure this qualifies as quality, but seeing Ann Wilson making music in 2022 made me happy and it’s decent enough.

Also randomly someone drops Frostmourne from a plane apparently. I dunno.
Sick burn.
I think it’s fascinating to see how these bands develop. Disturbed are doing Simon and Garfunkel ballads and songs - like this one - that basically sound like they could be written by Europe.
Same with Slipknot. It didn’t take them very long to go from a death metal inspiration to goopy ballads.
I always wonder if that’s an evolution, or if they were just in the wrong bands all along :)
Gotta respect that.
We need some Warcraft nerds to come in here and have a super serious conversation about how many points of damage that would do.

Thats more than a bit different as they always had those old school prog rock elements in there. And given the company they kept and bands they toured with clearly signposted where they may transition towards.
So when Akerfelt no longer wanted/ was able to continue the coolie vocals, it was a natural progression.

Wasn’t meant to be a burn, so much as “this song is alright but not amazing”. YMMV by taste naturally.
Disturbed has done better. I mostly posted it because it wasn’t bad and I wasn’t expecting Ann Wilson.
Someone made a videogame themed metal project called WASD, and I would say it’s better than it has any right to be. There’s some serious guitar work on this thing.
I don’t know who this Austin Green guy is, but apparently he did drums for a band called Child of Ash once upon a time.

The most hopeful song about Hiroshima you’ll likely ever hear.
Also, I genuinely like it, not as a quasi-meme, like their previous stuff (to be clear I did enjoy that stuff too for the most part, but it was inherently not-serious).
Watching metalhead gatekeepers get upset that someone was having fun, was enjoyable for a while, but after the first album I lost interest. The new concept album where they’re actually writing their own music seems to have promise.
Also their band is still legit top tier.
Good god, it’s like Incubus meets A Perfect Circle.
