Recording In-Game Video (FRAPS Alternative?)

I envy your disposable income then, sir.

I got it through work. :)

It was actually only $99 to upgrade to the latest version, and it’s a one-time purchase which helps a lot as well. I didn’t really need the upgrade - the original version I bought 5 years ago has been working very well since then, and it gave me two licenses to install it both at work and at home, which is a very nice deal. You could always go half and half with someone and use the license key they issue, I suppose, but OBS if it’s working is probably not worth replacing with a $200 product, even splitting the cost to half.

Ok, so there’s OBS for folks that want a no-cost/low-cost in-game video recording solution. But what about video editing? Is there a no-cost/low-cost video editing suite?

… Windows Movie Maker?

If you don’t need cutting edge, a friend of mine has been using Vegas/Movie Studio for his no-budget short feature films:

Don’t go too crazy spending just yet, as Microsoft has a new one coming in the Windows Fall Creators update in September called ‘Story Remix’.

Oh! That looks pretty good!

Vegas Video has changed hands again and is now owned by MAGIX. The new version v14 just came out.

Here’s a cheap upgrade referral link MAGIX support sent me for owning v13. I don’t think the install actually checks or asks for the previous version serial though: http://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/index.php?id=461&L=52

“Save $129”

Also, regarding recording, I’ve switched to using NVIDIA’s ShadowPlay/Share/whatever it’s called now. No competition for least performance hit and I’ve retired my licensed PlayClaw.
