It was in chapter two. You can’t miss it. You can miss the legendary fish guy, but I don’t think you’ll see him until chapter three? I did anyway.

Yeah, the Abigail fishing mission opens up in chapter 2 after you do part one of a multi-part John mission. I don’t remember what triggers the John mission, though.

Just finished my 3rd fishing mission. BEST GAME EVER.

Regarding double action revolvers, I’d say skip then. They are pretty crap.

If you want something that fires faster than the scofields, go to the semi automatic, or the mauser.

If I’m affected by the disappearing camp people bug (https://support.rockstargames.com/articles/360011639534/Sadie-Jack-John-and-Abigail-missing-from-Camp-in-Red-Dead-Redemption-2) then I’m assuming I won’t get to do the fishing quests until they return in chapter four? If so that’s a serious bummer.

No, that doesn’t seem to be the way the bug works. You won’t see the missing people wandering around the camp doing random stuff and engaging with other folks in the camp. But they will show up for any missions that they would assign you. They did for me, anyway, I had the bug and Abigail showed up for the fishing mission.

Awesome! Sucks to miss out on the banter and such (always fun to talk with John) but at least it doesn’t affect progress. Thanks!

I got all bloody after a successful elk hunt to the point where people were commenting on it in disgust as I rode by. So I hopped into the nearest river and sure enough blood stains appeared in the water around me. Soon, though, they disappeared so I’m assuming I’m all clean now. Probably best not to try this in the swamps, though.

I’ve been back to camp many times during Chapter 2 and Abigail is possibly the character I run into the most, but I’ve yet to see that mission. I wonder what triggers it.

Also I gather that I…

may have contracted TB on one of those debt collection missions for Herr Strauss, which bums me out, since antibiotics won’t be a thing till Arthur is a VERY old man. Am I boned now?

I can PM you if you like.

Just go with it Papageno. It’s not optional, you didn’t do anything wrong.

I wish I could stay in chapter 2 forever.

Anyone else run into the couple living in a cabin in the woods in the middle of nowhere who invite you to stay for dinner? The man is quite rotund, wearing coveralls over a bare chest. The woman is attractive and flirty? Interesting episode off the beaten track.

I’ve taken to riding toward smoke in the daytime and fires at night. (I feel like the Israelites wandering the desert.) There are a bunch of interesting encounters to be found all over the place.

I did for a while, but then it started to feel like the only people I met just yelled at me to get out of their camp, then if I didn’t they started shooting at me and I had to kill them. Now I just avoid campfires.

I’ve stumbled upon gang hideouts a couple of times after investigating campfires. And sometimes I’ll run into someone who’ll invite me to sit a spell. They usually ride off and leave their own campfire after tiring of my company. What do you mean you don’t want to sit there and watch me craft potent snake oil? And I also once came across a former soldier who was drinking himself to death.

Was it the guy feeling guilty about the way the government was treating Native Americans?

I’ve come across several former soldiers, many missing body parts. I always give them a buck or two, and sometimes a hug.

Chapter 3, big ranch with a lot of buildings up north, filled with O’Driscolls. Just had a good time taking them all out with my Rolling Block Sniper rifle. Now exploring to see what the spoils may be.

I think it was his own actions–he helped round up and kill people. I would have put him out of his misery, but it seems he drank himself to death. I tend to not have much mercy for this kind of thing. I shot the pathetic old slave catcher too.

(Side note: It’s odd in this game that there’s no unconscious state. NPCs are either awake or dead.)

Yeah, it is odd. I thought he’d just fallen asleep. But then I checked the mini-map, and there was a black x there, indicating a dead body. So I figured I might as well check to see if had anything on him, and took the morality hit for looting a dead body.
