Remember when the charge on your controller lasted for days or weeks, not hours. Gee that was nice. With a WiiMote with a charge life of 2-3 hours and a PS4 controller that lasts 3-4 hours can we really call these things wireless? I miss the old days when you charged up a controller and happily gamed all week before you needed to plug it back in.

Ah yes. The good old days of Xbox One controllers. :)

Have you tried the Wii U Pro Controller? By all accounts, that thing will make you forget it has a charging port.

I use wired controllers whenever possible, so battery life is generally only a concern on portable devices, but the battery life on those has gotten significantly worse in recent years as well.

I don’t understand why you’d use controller chargers. I put rechargeable batteries in my controllers. When they run out, I swap them with charged ones from the battery charger. No down time.

Remember when controllers had two buttons, but they only did one thing? I miss my Zip Stick

Pepperidge Farm remembers…

Remember those bastard Atari controllers that put a sore divot in your palm?

The PS4 battery life does seem shorter than I remember the Xbox 360 battery life. But the really frustrating thing will be in a couple years when the PS4 controllers won’t hold a charge at all. With the 360 I could at least replace the battery pack.

Say goodbye your fingertips from pressing the side buttons.

wireless mouse and keyboard seems to last a fair while ;)

Well, conveniently your replacement controller will come bundled with a new slim PS4. This will be useful since by then your PS4 will have overheated, melted and gotten a yellow light of death.

The PS3 controllers were fine. But the PS4 controllers are almost wired controllers at the rate they run through their batteries.

I have stupidly fond memories of this c64 controller. It was the best c64 joystick ever. Nothing came close.

When I was a children, I had two welders to repair my C64 joysticks. The cheap ones where shit, and the connexions would fail and break. Something easy to fix with a welder. The expensive ones would last more, but where harder to repair. Then they starting making them with “microswitches”, these where pretty solid so by that point it was the plastic that would break.
On my home we had to ban Decathlon, because that game was a absolute joystick murder.

Fast-forward to 2014. I now use the stock PS4 controller. Seems quite good. It charge battery from USB and I have two, so while I use one, the other is charging. Making the battery next to ethernal*

*Not actually ethernal, I manage to dry the battery in a long poopshocking session.

Having wifi controler + wifi hearphones is like living in the future. I can sit back on my bed with a lot of pillow behind me, and is the best thing ever.

I just wish the X360 controller where wifi USB powered, and not AA batteries. I hate AA batteries.

Hey can somebody Google “poopshocking” for me, please? Thanks.

edit - Oh you must mean poop socking. Of course. I understand now.

I feel weird about the feature, but my couch has USB ports. I don’t care about wireless controller battery life anymore. Wave of the future!

That’s spooky man. I had those two Wico joysticks and ONLY those two and I looked up their images on google but decided against posting them in the thread. I was the stick guy, my best friend liked the ball one.

Remember the good old days when controllers never ran out of charge at all because they just plugged into your damn console and worked?

My xbox one controllers last me a couple days and I’m always on it. I can also just plug them in and use them like a wired controller. It’s a win/win

I recall having some other C64 joysticks over the years, but they really were lightyears behind the quality of these.

Just for shits and giggles I checked the Wico’s out on ebay and they are still fetching a pretty penny. Apparently it is not difficult to get an adapter to make these work with modern USB (probably not surprising). I wonder how they would hold up.
