I would not ever in a million years call The Bad Batch an action movie. It’s a slow, meditative art movie occasionally punctuated by violence. (Also I didn’t like it very much, but that’s beside the point.)
My own suggestions: Hardcore Henry - deeply ludicrous first-person movie with Sharlto Copley hamming it up in a surprising number of roles. Enemies Closer - straight to video thriller with Jean-Claude Van Damme as a vegan terrorist with the most amazing haircut, and Orlando Jones as the entirely forgettable main character’s reluctant frenemy. (No, seriously, I cannot remember a single thing about the main character.) Yakuza Apocalypse - Takashi Miike in gonzo mode. There are yakuza vampires that make other people into yakuza vampires by biting them. This is one of the less ridiculous elements of this movie. Dead or Alive and sequels - also Miike, also gonzo, not related to the videogame series.
Maybe Dredd? It’s a fucking awesome movie, that’s not why the ?. I’m just not sure if it’s B-enough. Tokyo Tribe - Words are insufficient to describe this movie.
I can also vouch for Universal Soldier: Regeneration, Kung Fu Hustle (and Stephen Chow’s previous film Shaolin Soccer), Crank (and Crank 2), Drive Angry.
Vin Diesel in (fill in the blank). Of course there’s Pitch Black and then The chronicles of Riddick and Babylon AD. I also watched The Scorpion King today on TV and I believe it fits the bill. It’s got the Rock when he was just becoming an action star… And he has hair!
