Revisiting Jeremy Brett's Holmes

Lately I’ve had the urge to do just that. Fortunately all 40+ episodes are up on Youtube. So who’s with me?

The greatest Holmes of them all. Not sure I want to rewatch them just now, but I hope you enjoy them as much as the first time round.

Yea I love those. He was brilliant.

A really great take on Holmes. It had been long time since ive watched so this is great.

I watched it a lot as a kid growing up in the 80s. And then I read the books and I was kind of disappointed. Honestly, the books aren’t as good as Jeremy Brett’s Holmes.

But yeah, sorry, not going to join for a rewatch right now. Too much TV and books and most importantly games I’m catching up on these days. Maybe some point in the future though. Looks like Brit Box has all the episodes too.

Might be a generational thing. By that I mean that as a kid, watching Holmes on TV meant Basil Rathbone. So after I discovered the books (in high school and college), Brett was a revelation.

Thank you for identifying these. How wonderful! I remember Stephen Fry was also a huge fan of Brett’s performances.

Rathbone was a wonderful-looking Holmes, and he was a fine actor in many other productions too, but I think Brett is vastly superior in the role.
