My post is less distracting and more to the point!
LOL! can’t argue with that. Athryn 1 - the guy who can’t be brief 0. :)

Shhh. You’ll jinx it. Their servers will catch fire or the CFO will be found embezzling funds and everything will fall apart. Count your blessings. Quietly. Get out your rabbit’s foot and collect four leaf clovers.
Seriously, I am thinking about giving the game a try with all the positive talk here.
If you like the genre, you owe it to yourself to give it a try. It’s the most complete, stable and fun MMO launch since vanilla WoW.

This.
Is it just me, or did they change the look of wardstones after this patch? The defiant ones look all … organic now.

Aye, wardstones have had their looks upgraded - its part of the massive patch notes :-)

Still strongly considering picking this up by the weekend.
Some more questions:
- How is the levelling in terms of downtime between pulls? (Differences between melee/magic dps?)
- How many mobs can on pull, 1-2 like in WoW or entire groups like in City of Heroes?
- Is one restricted to EU/US servers based on location?
Thanks

Leveling is like Wow, not much downtime.
1-2 mobs, sometimes less! (It can actually sometimes be hard and things will kill you.)
You can play on US servers as a Euro and vice versa, you change the region.

And sometimes you can pull a good deal more depending on your build. You really do get to play how you want for the most part.
In fact, zero downtime with certain builds (i.e. my current Justicar/Druid/Shaman).
Any cleric melee build where you get any self healing at all plus two of the mana regen talents is pretty much a nonstop grinding machine.
With some builds you can pretty much pull multiple on-level mobs non-stop if you want to stay busy.

Completely agree. My Justicar/Shaman is pretty much go, go, go. It was more problematic until I got the second mana regen talent. With two, mana is never an issue.
I can fight up to 4-5 on-level mobs at once with no problems at all (I’m afraid it’s actually got a bit boring). The only thing that really challenges me at this point is the elites that span off the 5th stage of Minor Rifts. Those I have serious problems soloing. I also have difficulty soloing Major Rifts.
Drinks are so cheap though, I can’t imagine there’s much downtime for other classes. Post fight just pop a beverage (water, juice, rum, whatever is level appropriate). Down for 10 seconds, and then ready to go for the next fight. I like the fact that they are cheap enough that you really don’t have to worry about buying them.
You should definitely get the same. It has been a really long time since I have enjoyed a game quite so much.
On the Shaman/Justicar/Druid front, that is my favorite character in any MMO of all time. With the Shaman mana recovery on crit skill and the two mana recovery abilities, I never wanted for mana, enough to try a build using Sentinel and give up the Druid Fae Hammer. Awesome to be able to regen 50-60% mana every 20 secs, though, evenly spaced. I have heard you can fire them in multiples and still get the recovery from both skills at the same time; I should actually test this. Another play time excuse!
All of the “Trion’s different!!” talk just got flushed with today’s patch, though. Seems like they hit critical mass of former employees from failed games because 1.1 could have been for Warhammer/AoC/Vanguard/SWG/etc.
I have gone from “fanboy!” to “trust but verify” to hoping to not see “well, maybe this will turn it around” levels of faith in the company itself. Hopefully this trajectory is wrong but how many other games have I been excited about only to see not get off the ground or ruined soon after launch?
Sorry to be so positive on the game and so mixed on Trion. I really hope we get more Hartsmann and less whomever sank WAR in the near future.
I have to say that Rift’s launch is much, much better than the launch of WoW. I’ve yet to experience loot lag or server instability in Rift, and that pretty much defined WoW’s initial launch.

I think you might be overreacting, have you actually played any since the patch? It doesn’t really feel any different to me, if you’re referring to all the various nerfs. A lot of the things they nerfed (like flame spear) honestly needed to be nerfed, and a lot of the things that were changed were things that we had been pushing for in late Alpha testing.
Sheesh, they still didn’t fix the damn bag wandering problem.
I was able to play last night, on the day of a major patch. That in and of itself was an accomplishment. Beyond that, everything seemed to work fine. Not that I experienced every iota of content, of course, but compared to many post-patch sessions in other games, it was fine.
Anyone have a screenshot of the spectral horse you can apparently get from the world event?
