I liked his early-70’s stuff that was more Allman-esque, and his studio work was quite good. RIP
yeah, a lot of his early work is definitely “Allman-esque” and quite listenable. He went a lot more country later on.
Very sorry to read this. It’s sad to see an old icon go, and he certainly was one for many years. I’ve not listened to him much at all in many years though, I’m not sure if he was still making music at all.
Any country singer that crosses over to a top 40 hit did something right, not to mention many other country hits along the way.
