Kenneth Anger died a few weeks ago, aged 96, and the news is starting to trickle out. I guess he’ll never finish Puce Women now.
My favorite of his trippy short films was “Inauguration of the Pleasure Dome”, which is a little like swimming through an Alan Moore comic about Magick and Myth and a little like watching the neighborhood kids put on an avant-garde play back in the old barn.
He also wrote Hollywood Babylon, which featured terrifically smutty stories about tinseltown excess, and was fun to read… at least until the season of “You Must Remember This” that took it down hard/performed a basic fact-checking.
Rest in peace, Ken… or enjoy whatever afterlife a diehard LaVeyian Satanist like you would have wanted.
