Personally, I knew him best as Mozart’s father Leopold in Amadeus.
Hell of a life. He was shot down over Germany, and when you’re a POW, there’s not much to do, so he put on performances for his fellow prisoners. And that’s how he got the acting bug.
That’s too bad. When I was young, I kind of wished my dad was more like Roy’s character of “Father” on the Beauty and the Beast TV show. He also guest starred in one of the best B5 episodes, providing a friendly face to creeping fascism.
