Robert Kirkman's Secret History of Comics on AMC

Was very cynical about this series, but the first episode (on the founding of the Marvel Age of Comics starting with Fantastic Four) was outstanding in all respects. Surprisingly great presentation (using animated recreations of events) and very intelligent, fair-minded and reasonably thorough consideration of controversies (Kirby/Ditko vs Lee) and presentation of events. Some great interviews and historical footage too, and lots of snippets from comics and other Marvel products.

Probably the biggest “reveal” were the Stanley Lieber pictures before he created the Stan Lee persona - it was amazing to see the extent to which Stan Lee really transformed himself - I’ve probably seen old pictures from 61-3 (and earlier) dozens of times and didn’t even recognize Stan Lee in them.
