I never got into Frontalot, but I could go for Coulton and MC Chris depending on the song.

Nerdcore sucks

3 dollars for some Coulton and Chris? Fuck yeah. I hope it’s The Tussin or Fett’s Vette from Chris.

Adree, I’m not sure we can be castle crashing friends anymore…

I don’t even know what you guys are talking about.

When is RB2, already? The 14th? I need some GOOD new songs.

Aww, no MC Chris.

PAX Pack 1 for $3 next week, all money going to the Child’s Play charity:

“Skullcrusher Mountain” - Jonathan Coulton
“Livin’ on the Corner of Dude and Catastrophe” - MC Frontalot
“Shhh….” - Darkest of the Hillside Thickets

All masters, and “Shhh.” is an unreleased track.

Skullcrusher Mountain is flatout awesome. I was hoping for more Coulton.

Next week’s. All that remains track pack. Six was one of my favorite GH2 bonus tracks, so I’m probably ready to gamble on a discount pack of these.

This Calling is an awesome song and will be fun to play. Don’t know anything about the new stuff.

DLC done wrong this week. Why continue to put up no-name bands when what we really need in Rock Band is a wider variety of songs people know. When I have friends over to play, it doesn’t matter if the band is good, if they don’t know the song already they’re not gonna want to play it… which forces me to sing if I want an eclectic selection in my playlist.

Fucking Growly Cookie Monster Shit. I hate that crap! No $ from me, HMX.

My wife won’t let me buy this kind of stuff. I can stomach death metal vocals, but she can’t. Oh well, only a week until I get a BUNCH of good new songs.

I was initially resistant to the band, seeing it as the worst combination of screamining and theme from a distance. But Six in GH2 was one of the most badass songs to play, and actually got me liking them…unlike my experiences with much of the metal/thrash options, I found it difficult without being repetitive and tortuous, but rather interesting and tortuous (if that makes sense). I still don’t know what the lyrics say, for the most part, and that works for me where it usually doesn’t with screamers.

I understand that’s simply a point of no return, especially for older audiences or people who can’t envision in a million years doing the vocals (I’m curious about what the game demands for songs like these, and I love having something on hand to fuck over the occasional Hey Let’s Play Jimmy Buffett Three Songs In A Row moment).

Also, like with Nightwish, the songs improve when you fake the lyrics by sound.

At this late date, what do y’all think is going to happen to the Moving Pictures DLC? It appears that RB2 is going to hit before MP does. Will it be RB2 DLC?

Looks that way, doesn’t it? I don’t think there’s any distinction between RB and RB2 DLC though. It’s just DLC for Rock Band.

Ahh, okay - that makes sense.

I wonder if that means that RB1 just couldn’t handle songs with missing instruments and that it had to be built into the engine for RB2.

No, because RB2 DLC is Rock Band DLC also. If it ever comes out, it has to work in both.

Yeah but didnt they say that all new DLC past last week had to go to machines that paid the $4.99 tax or did I misunderstand something?

No, those are the actual on-disc Rock Band 1 tracks. You pay the $5, and the tracks are copied off the Rock Band disc onto your hard drive. From then on, RB2 basically sees them as DLC. All actual DLC works across games without you doing anything.
