I’d rather have Insomniac than Dookie or American Idiot.

Yeah, that’s why I like the Friday-Tuesday thing. It’s enough ahead that it’s not like something just showed up completely unanounced, but close enough that there’s rarely any problem with the release. When the announce something months ahead I think it detracts from that week’s release (assuming the thing they’re hyping is better).

Good point, although I think it would be much better than Doolittle in that respect. The problem as I see it is that there are a few marathon-type 10 minute songs in there (it is a rock opera, after all), but those could easily be broken up for RB purposes. I’d be happy with Dookie too, but there I’d be more likely to just pick up a bunch of tracks than get the whole album.
AMERICAN IDIOT
“Jesus of Suburbia” and “Homecoming” are the only epics on the album. If Rush’s Moving Pictures DLC can get away with “The Camera Eye,” I don’t see why these two tracks (out of the 13) would stop a full album release.
DOOLITTLE
The Rodney Dangerfield of DLC.
TEXAS FLOOD
I hate to bring it up, but the last album that had this long of a delay was “Who’s Next.” It can’t bode well.

So that mean’s we’ll get the best DLC pack in the game (with maybe the exception of AC/DC)?
I’m boycotting DLC until I get the Anne Murray I’ve been hoping for. HARMONIX OWES ME.
Yes, minus the title track and “Pride and Joy.”
I like SRV, but I’d actually rather they released Nothing Shocking already. I want to play Pigs in Zen!!!
According to Joystiq, Pearl Jam is re-releasing “Ten” to stores, and the Best Buy deluxe edition will allow three Rock Band tracks to be downloaded for free:
Brother
Alive
State of Love & Trust
That’ll be in March, which is the around the same time Ten is supposed to be an album release in Rock Band.
I wonder if they’ll have enough in these deluxe editions to justify re-purchasing Ten.
I think it’s a live version.
I’d love to have State of Love and Trust in Rock Band but I am not purchasing another Ten CD just to get it. Hopefully it will be availabe as a standard $2 DLC song as well.
Oh no, sir! FUCK YOU with a spiked mace.
Now then, I must say this whole “Boycott DLC til I get what I want” isn’t working right now. I blame the excellent Thin Lizzy tracks.

Especially since they rock very, very hard.
Brother is also phenomenal (and topical in a Pearl Jam kind of way), and I can’t wait for this release.
I wonder if they’ll have enough in these deluxe editions to justify re-purchasing Ten.
Given the number of demos, variations, and b sides that the Ten period alone includes (just from the evidence in my collection alone), I’d say there’s likely plenty there (for me). But I would expect it’s targeted at their fan base and newcomers…
EDIT: I can’t believe they went with BB exclusive. I fucking hate BB exclusives, almost as much as Walmart exclusives.

I hope it’s like the Disturbed set and we get a promo code that everyone can use and get 2 of the songs for free.
I don’t even mind paying for the additional dlc. I just don’t like shopping at electronics stores.

The Thin Lizzy tracks are great. Mostly not too hard on guitar, but with some great HO/PO sections in the solos.
Even live? Only reason I didn’t get the tracks was I was a bit put off by the ‘live’ aspect of them. I didn’t think the Jimmy Buffett songs were as good because they were live versions.

I just picked up Rock Band 2, and can’t get my Lips mics to work for the life of me. What am I missing? The game doesn’t want to recognize they are connected.
