…indeed.

You know, I can’t even conceive of a scenario for this that doesn’t end horribly, given Rock Band’s history with hip-hop (see all Beastie Boys tracks). I can certainly think of artists that would have been a better fit than Snoop, but I think this is probably just part of a big deal that the network reached with him anyway, so feh. Just a week of content I won’t have to buy.

Gah45

More like: “Great!”

I doubt I’ll be playing it much on single player, but “This game needs some hip-hop!” is one of the most frequent comments I hear in group settings.

They’ll definitely be good party songs, but I worry about the repetitiveness. What’s My Name and Gin 'n Juice are obvious choices, but I’m afraid I’ll feel a longing for Dre Day after a little while…

Do not want. How about some of the Kings instead? BB, Albert and Freddie?

You know Snoop Dogg isn’t a blues musician, right?

Gipsy!

We’ve found the Beastie songs fun to play. Don’t they have real musicians at their concerts, playing real guitars and drums at least?

What this bad history with BBoys and RB?

Well, the specific bad history is with So What’cha Want, which is a dismal failure at every instrument I’ve attempted it with. Not a song I hate, but it seems to be either two notes over and over again for four minutes or two notes interrupted by a sequence of three notes. Sabotage wasn’t terrific but was at least instrument-adjacent.

That’s why people don’t like Beastie Boy in Rock Band. It’s the most repetitive boring song I can think of and I HATE seeing it come up in a mystery setlist.

Yeah, this is one area where GH:WT actually did good.

“No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn” is much more entertaining than Sabotage, and of course What 'Cha Want.

My wife and I just picked up RB2, after GH: WT was our introduction to music games. So far in our opinion, RB2 does about everything better except the included tracks. We enjoyed World Tour’s song list much better, but Rock Band’s expansive store makes this point almost mute. Also, the Rock Band interface puts Guitar Hero’s to shame.

I had forgotten how crappy Rock Band’s default soundtrack is until I started Endless Setlist 2. Some of the songs that came with the game are just so terrible I wonder why they were included.

Luckilly I have 200+ DLC songs so it’s not normally a problem.

I think that statement sums it up perfectly.

Oddly, RB/GH have managed to ruin several of my favorite Beastie Boys songs for me, when usually it’s the other way around – inclusion of a song usually makes me a bigger fan of it.

But especially in the case of So What’Cha Want, where the note chart is unbearably boring on guitar, bass and drums, I now cringe whenever it comes up in Score Duel, and I have no urge to ever pull it up on my iPod. It’s only fun to sing, which is the opposite of Rock Band 1, where Sabotage’s vocals were so broken that merely hearing the song would give me angry flashbacks.

No Sleep Till Brooklyn gets a pass because I’ve barely played GHWT since reviewing it, and 90% of the time it’s just to play Death Magnetic stuff.

Yeah, dude. I believe I’m pointing out a much greater need that hasn’t been filled.

Are we the only ones that always get 100% on vocals for “So What’cha Want”? None of us admit to knowing even 25% of the lyrics. =)

We laugh a lot when this song comes up, the vocalist, whoever it is, ends up making everyone crack up.

Keep at it, you’ll get there.

Same is true for RATM/Testify or any all talking part song. Rather than have you meet some bizarro standard of timing or whatever it was in RB1, they seem to have just decided to give everyone an A for effort on talking parts. Go ahead and crank it up to expert, it won’t get any harder.

Am I the only one who mostly likes the RB2 defaults? The first one left me really disappointed with most of the selection, but there’s only three songs I’d purge on the RB2 disc. GH:WT had 8 songs I cared about, and they weren’t worth the poor execution or price.

Basically, people who have actual, y’know, taste in music like the Rock Band 2 soundtrack.

Although there are the usual 10% of tracks which are clunkers, same as any other fake plastic rock game. GH:WT is the exception here, which I’ve discussed ad nauseam in the other thread. AY CARAMBA!
