I dare you to listen to Old 97s and think they are typical country pop that you hear on the radio all the time.

If Drive By Truckers is country, then I want more country. (But they aren’t. Half their songs are about how they really want to be Lynard Skynard, for crying out loud!)

They should release Southern Rock Opera as a full album download, it could be the first double album dlc!

Released by accident in the UK. Since pulled.

That would be cool!

Yeah, I’m incredibly happy about this. I will buy pretty much any Old 97s they release, and I’m really not much of a country fan.

Very cool. Thanks for the link. I’ll definitely be getting that.

Same here. I didn’t have much hope we’d get anything by the Old 97’s. I don’t imagine Fight Songs will ever be a full album release, so I happy with whatever we get.

I guess I’d prefer the album version of Time Bomb, but, having seen them perform at least 20 times, I’m sure the live version will be just fine.

Ok, just watched the videos of this weeks DLC.

Jimmy Eat World: Teenybopper strum fests. Pass.

Drive-By-Truckers: Decent southern rock with a sweet solo.

Lucinda Williams: Country blues. Still holding out for electric Sweet Home Chicago blues.

Neko Case: Too sweet for Rock Band.

Old 97s: This is punk, not country.

Steve Earle: Yippie ki yay, it’s country all right.

And there you have it. YMMV.

I can’t hear that without wanting to play Interstate '76

I just downloaded a bunch of stuff I hadn’t gotten around to. For Rock Band I got “More Human Than Human” by Rob Zombie along with the Jimmy Eat World Pack 01 (Futures, Sweetness, & Lucky Denver Mint). For GH:WT I got the Acoustic Pack (“Drive” by Incubus, “New Slang” by The Shins, and “Wonderwall” by Ryan Adams) as well as “Tomorrow” by Silverchair. It’s a little bit of a bummer that I have to play one game or another for particular songs, but I do like having more songs available because of it.

Songs about cutting off your boyfriend’s legs and watching him drown are very sweet indeed.

Awesome pack, the Lucinda Williams track was a pleasant surprise.

Whoever said this earlier, you are 100% right. There is no fucking way the Old 97s are country. Genre fail. So totally punk.

Sweet sounding, then.

Huge fan of old 97s. Don’t know if I can handle singing time bomb.

Well, they did say “Alt Country,” though I’ve always preferred the old XM Radio term, “Americana.”

I really like the Old 97’s song, so that makes it an even bigger shame that the drum chart is horrendous. It’s like the bad, opening part of Sin Wagon but harder and for the entire song.

It’s alt country. That’s definitely not a punk rhythm section. The drum and bass parts could be dropped into an uptempo Johnny Cash song and nobody would bat an eye.

I know what it sounds like to me and others. Now let’s discuss how to tell a duck from something else…

Wumpus/Midnight Son vs The Entire World

We will break you.

Muhahahahaahahahah!!!
