Hahahahahahahahaha! Perfect.

I like just about the whole Boston pack, although the keyboard solo in Smokin makes the song unplayable on guitar. But if you only get one more song I suggest Something About You. It’s the song I usually end my guitar sessions with. Difficulty-wise it’s about midway between More Than A Feeling and Foreplay/Long Time.

Me neither, but I got both Texas Flood and Pride and Joy because I buy pretty much everything that was in GH previously. Anyone have recommendations for a third song?

Also, I failed Pride and Joy so hard. SRV I am not.

Huge Rock Band Wii DLC release tomorrow, if anyone’s playing that version.

I’ve always meant to ask: Is “Why do you love me” by Garbage worth it for those that love playing “I think I’m Paranoid” as a great warm-up song?

Why Do You Love me isn’t really a warm-up song, it’s a lot harder on drums and a little harder on guitar. However, it’s a great song and fun to play.

“I Think I’m Paranoid” isn’t a warm-up song, it’s a soporific.

Why Do You Love Me is easily one of my top 5 favorite songs in RB to play. While not particularly challenging, the chorus is, simply put, ROCKING on guitar and vocals.

Just a hell of a lot of fun to play.

I like it better on drums than guitar, but yeah it’s got a great chorus.

Yes. It’s definitely got a different feel from …Paranoid, but I like them both.

“Why Do You Love Me?” is awesome.

yeah, it’s much better than I Think I’m Paranoid, which is just OK.

A lot more energy, for one thing. I can forgive a lot in a song if it’s got energy and has interesting note charts.

Does GH:WT follow the same dificulty model as GH3? That is, hard is more speed + more buttons? I much, much, MUCH prefer RB’s hard = more buttons and not really more sped. Makes me feel like a rock star without pissing me off.

On GH3 I keep having to drop back to Medium and its slow, 4-button ways are tedious…

But I like the look of the GH:WT kit…

Thanks for the opinions on the Garbage tune guys. Sounds like it’ll make a great song to play with a group.

Calistas: I found GH:WT to be more forgiving compared to GH3. They still follow the same philosophy for difficulty (more speed + more buttons), but don’t ramp it up as much on hard as they do on Expert, where they have more notes than in the original song.

I predict you still won’t find it nearly as satisfying as Rock Band.

GHWT has a much better difficulty curve overall than GH3. The addition of an extra super newbie mode seems to have made their medium level much more palatable and the progression up to hard significantly smoother. Certain songs are still ballbreakers, of course, but I run into that with RB1&2 as well. You can switch difficulties within sets for no penalty and without having to do the whole rest of the set at a difficulty that’s too easy, which I really value.

If you already have RB and are used to it, the game will have to be something of an acquired taste. It has certain features that are valuable enough to me that I still enjoy having it as an alternative, and I much prefer the drums to either the RB1 or 2 sets (mind you, I’m a medium drummer on a good day, and I just don’t particularly care for optional cymbals versus ones that are 100% a part of the basic gameplay. Accuracy < entertainment value, at least for someone with no actual drum background). The guitar is my favorite iteration yet, although I think I could grow to like the RB2 guitar as much if I could justify an 8th guitar (in terms of overall total across platforms).

Really, if you look at the song list and see enough things you might like to play, then by all means. The GHWT thread has a lot of opinions on that subject, and I’m sure the usual chorus will chime in shortly.

Man! I’m so stoked that HMX is finally going to patch all the nagging issues with Rock Band 2!

(Except, obviously they’re not.)

I think this is the thread you were looking for Midnight Son, when you accidentally walked into this one.

You’re adorable, don’t ever change

(except, obviously, quit trying to ruin perfectly good threads)

I have GH2 + 3 and RB and am prefering RB enough to consider just waiting. I don’t know enough folks who want to sing or drum so the extra kit is kind of lost on me right now haha. Maybe I will skip GHWT and wait for another iteration.

I bought Texas Flood last night. Is it me or is Rude Mood like one of the hardest songs of the whole game ? (I’m talking expert guitar/drums)

You’re a prodigy. What did you think all the devil heads meant?

I can play And justice for all’s battery chart in Expert mode, no problem. Same goes for Battery on guitar. Both are devil heads songs in these respective areas if I’m not mistaken.

I lasted 15 seconds this time.

There’s devil hard, and there’s devil extra hard. I think this one is much more in the Exiled/Visions category - in a very different style, but that goes without saying (and yet I said it).
