That’s pretty cool. Something for our fakeplasticrock blog dood to post I think!

Gah, I’ve been kept away from the GH: Metallica demo, and Pearl Jam’s Ten by the fact that my Les Paul is out of juice. I really wish those things could take the rechargeable battery packs that the regular controllers take. I keep forgetting to stop by the store to buy batteries on the way home.

Announced at GDC: Don’t Stop Believin’ is coming to Rock Band “sometime in the near future”.

[darth vader]NOOOOOO!!![/darth vader]

Just got an email that my Ten Deluxe set is on backorder.

I can’t wait!

Why not just buy a 4 pack of rechargables? I have a bunch of them around for controllers, cameras, etc…

I love this song! And I love it more when amateurs sing the lyrics! But I hate baseball cards.

When we form the band, I’M the one who gets to dress up like Mark Mothersbaugh.

I tried them out some more on different instruments, and I’m going to go ahead and say I was hasty in ruling out Oceans and Release. Porch is just a tough act to follow for any song.

Master/Slave makes sense as a relatively harmless way to ensure the “full” album is there without attaching a minute of nothing to the beginning of Once etc.

Also, I wish that the OOOH OOOH OOOH OOOH (or, alternately, WHOO WHOO WHOO) part of Jeremy was just tambourine with no vocals, or (at least) spoken word without a pitch attached to it. Much like with the female singers in Gimme Shelter (except not as unfair, since at least the lead singer is doing it) they put me way out of my comfort zone in a bad way. Still a great vocal song, just a personal preference.

Hmm. I probably should’ve just picked the songs I know instead of getting the whole album. It will be appreciated at parties though.

Even if you are luke warm on Pearl Jam, Once,Why Go, Even Flow, Jeremy, Porch, Garden, and Deep are a blast on all instruments.

Thumbs up for more female vocals. Now give me some Heart.

I’m always shocked at how much Love is a Battlefield rocks. It’s just a great, great song.

well, let’s see:

Heartbreaker
Hit Me With your Best Shot
Hell Is for Children
Treat Me Right
You Better Run
Fire and Ice
Love is a Battlefield

Is there any reason it couldn’t be “Heartbreaker”? There has been puh-lenty of overlap DLC (20+ now as I recall) with the GH:WT main setlist already.

I certainly hope it’s Heartbreaker, as that’s one I would actually bother to buy.

How about Invincible (the Legend of Billie Jean… FAIR IS FAIR!)

That would be my reading of it. Saying “the other big hit” to me implies the one that isn’t in Rock Band yet, and nothing to do with GH whatsoever. Though I’m still rooting for Hell Is For Children.

Hell is for Children is way too depressing. I vote for Heartbreaker, Treat me Right or You Better Run

Bah! Bah I say.

According to the NPD (via Joystiq), Rock Band has sold over $1 billion at retail stores now. And people have downloaded over 40 million songs as “premium DLC”. I’m going to assume premium means the songs that cost money (as opposed to Still Alive and Charlene).

I have to admit, this makes me wonder if Rock Band has the right strategy after all. If the retail releases have generated $1 billion, then comparatively, even assuming $2 per song, DLC only made them $80 million. Now at retail, I guess the retailer takes a cut, and Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo takes a cut, plus the cost of goods is higher. But still, Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo still take part of the cut even for the DLC out of the $80 million.
