I’m with Midnight Son. The Spongebob thing has got to be an April Fool’s joke. Except, that it’s believable enough that it could be real. Which makes it a really good April Fool’s joke. Unless it’s real.

Hmm. I hadn’t considered the April Fool’s Joke possibility. Hrm.

See, my thought for April Fool’s was that they needed to include something like Led Zeppelin, say Immigrant Song or Whole Lotta Love, and make it free, then when you get it downloaded it’s actually a Rickroll.

Per-song star ratings would be awesome. My additional requests:

  1. You should be able to flag downloaded songs to exclude them from the Mystery Setlist rotation. There are difficult songs that I’d like to download and try, but end up passing on because I don’t want them showing up in Mystery Sets.

  2. I’d like to be able to flag songs as “favorites,” and then have a “show favorites” / “show all” toggle in all of the song lists. The game comes with good sorting tools, but my song library is so large at this point that it’s starting to get a little cumbersome again.

That would be awesome. I mean, as a fully fleshed out what you thought you were downloading was actually the entirety of Never Gonna Give You Up and not just a video sort of thing.

The news elicited a tiny, weak-sounding “whoo” from one person sitting in on the session; the game currently only lists high-score information per song.

And of course, that lone “whoo” was me.

Tiny, weak-sounding “whoo,” eh? I expected more from you…

Good to know. Has anyone spent a lot of time with an online World Tour band? I wouldn’t mind trying to fill out the band sometime with a couple more QT3 folks.

I think I’m going back on my Spongebob thoughts after actually hearing the songs. I don’t think I could stand them coming up randomly.

Ha! I read the link before I read your post and I actually thought “Hrm, I wonder if that was Sluggo? I’d place pretty good odds that he’d be at that session.”

I doubt the Spongebob songs are an April Fool’s Day joke, at least in the sense that I believe they probably exist and will be released. I guess even with that being the case there could be an April Fool’sy element to them, but I just don’t see them being the sort of songs they’d pull a “hah, hah… you thought we were SERIOUS?” move with. Seems more like a bit of a corporate sell-out (Nick->Viacom->MTV) move than an April Fool’s Day Joke.

If they were going to do such a joke, I’d imagine they’d do it by announcing some really sugary/sterile pop songs, like some Britney Spears stuff or similar. At the end of the day, I doubt they’d do that or the Led Zep thing even if they wanted to just because of potential legal issues and/or fan backlash (the amount of fan backlash if they did what Funkula suggested would be legendary).

I don’t know if I’d have labeled it “weak,” but at the same time, I didn’t want to bring Teasdale’s talk to a screeching halt, either. :)

Even better would be to be able to make custom “play-lists”. If nothing else, then just in quickplay. I would like to add 50 songs to a playlist and make a quick set with 5 random of them. Sometimes I’m in the mood for some metal. Other times something softer. As it is, we often make a setlist, select random and then deleting until we get something acceptable. A bit tedious with a big library.

A word of warning for those thinking of buying the deluxe edition of Ten at Best Buy to get the 3 extra Pearl Jam tracks - not every package includes the download code needed to get the tracks. Unfortunately I know this because it just happened to me. There’s the beginning of a thread covering the issue over on best buy’s site. Supposedly calling customer service will resolve the issue. No patience for that right now but I’ll follow up once I figure it out. Best bet is to open it while you’re in the store, I guess, if you’re thinking of picking this up. Thread url:

That’s fucking bullshit. That’s the only reason I bought it from them. Thanks for the heads up, I’m sure when my preorder arrives on monday it will be missing the code.

Greetings:
I would say that the chance for these kinds of features remains exceedingly slim. One of the things that Dan said in his talk was that he had heard this feedback and decided that managing track lists does not support the core Rock Band proposition of being an awesome rock musician. Given that they have limited bandwidth for features due to their release schedule, I wouldn’t put money on seeing much in the way of interface-driven features.

Best,
Michael.

We don’t need complex set creation tools, we just need “skip, or skip with penalty” options during play. This is one of the handful of things that GH:WT actually gets right.

I’d counter that spending five minutes scrolling back and forth through a library of 200+ songs every time you put together a set supports the core Rock Band proposition of being an awesome rock musician even less. :)

Yeah, there are those rare times I end up with a song I just LOATHE in a mystery set, and I hate getting a devil set on expert as my lost song in a mystery 5.

I know I’m supposed to get better, but…frustration!

Speaking of, I’ve had Soul Asylum’s Misery stuck in my head for like, 3 days. Where’s the Soul Asylum RB? Misery, Runaway Train, Just Like Anyone?

Actually, let’s wrap this into a Kevin Smith Soundtrack Pack. I’d buy a few of those.

I would dig on some Soul Asylum.

I second the call for being able to exclude certain songs from mystery setlists, especially when one’s ambition is only to be able to complete a tour on easy/medium- I can do a number of songs on medium, but then it throws “Let there be Rock” or “Green Grass and High Tides” at me, which are basically “hard without the orange button”.
And before you tell me I suck, keep in mind that I’m nearly 48 and didn’t grow up with a controller in my hand like most of you did.
