Classic rock songs have a certain artistry that’s missing from today’s strumfests.

I’m Shocked.

hooray!

  • “Up the Beach”
    • “Ocean Size”
    • “Had a Dad”
    • “Ted, Just Admit It…”
    • “Standing in the Shower… Thinking”
    • “Summertime Rolls”
    • “Idiots Rule”
    • “Jane Says”
    • “Thank You Boys”
    • “Pigs in Zen”

… all by Jane’s Addiction.

A group I never got around to. At least not consciously. I probably have heard them on the radio.

You must know “Jane Says”, at least. It was huge on the radio, even though it represents the band’s sound poorly. I don’t think any of the other songs from this album except for Mountain Song on RB2 got any radio play.

I’m happy other people are happy, but I’ve never liked Jane’s Addiction–to listen to or to play. If they released Stop I’d probably get it for the GH nostalgia, but that’s about it.

Some excellent guitar on that one.

Finally. Awesome.

Bump. This is tomorrow. Joy!!!

I just topped up my points today, in anticipation.

As predicted, the Jane’s Addiction album is awesome for guitarwork, at least on 3-4 of the tracks. Really fun notecharts!

I was going to go for “Had a Dad”, “Ocean Size”, and “Jane Says” based on a combination of my favorite song from the album, the radio friendly hit which might not be that great, and a random highly rated song from rbdlc.com. Any can’t miss options from those of you that still doggedly dl full albums? These will make for a good setlist with my Chinese Democracy selections.

Damn! How did I miss this!? Look back through this thread, and you’ll see that I’ve been wanting this for a LONG time. This is an incredible album. Should be fun on every instrument, too. Pigs in Zen will rock! Ocean Size. Gah!

Alright, Harmonix. All your announced albums have now been released. Time to man up and tell us what’s next.

If you play drums get Ted Just Admit It.

A unique and fun chart with some crazy stuff at the end. Think the last 30 seconds of Don’t Fear The Reaper except it lasts for 3 minutes.

Thanks, I’ll check it out.

Excellent variety next week:

Next week we have a nice, varied selection of tracks coming out. Who do we have? How about the Allman Brothers Band? What about a Franz Ferdinand 3-pack? Or some Luscious Jackson, Alien Ant Farm . What if we followed that up with some, I don’t know, Prong and The Distillers. Will that work for you? Works for me.

We’ll announce the Wii tracks for next week on Monday, see you then.

Tracks:
Franz Ferdinand - Do You Want To
Franz Ferdinand - Lucid Dreams
Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out
Alien Ant Farm - Smooth Criminal
Allman Bros - Blue Sky
Allman Bros - Midnight Rider
Distillers - Drain the Blood
Luscious Jackson - Naked Eye
Prong - Idealistic Types
Prong - The Banishment

(All tracks are original master recordings)

Price:
$1.99 or 160 Microsoft Points per track
$5.49 or 440 Microsoft Points for Franz Ferdinand 3-pack

I’m getting at least 5 of these, maybe more.

Never heard the prong tracks, but I’m familiar with them from the “Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck” track, which is …excellent.

Wow, very nice. Are the other two Franz Ferdinand tracks as good as Take Me Out?

Smooth Criminal - is that a cover of Michael Jackson’s song or do they just happen to have the same name?

I’m definitely going to be getting Allman Bros and Luscious Jackson, though I don’t remember if Naked Eye is the one Luscious Jackson song I know or not.
