Rock Band - DLC Done Right

I don’t know how to feel about this. I’ve long felt Hallowed Be Thy Name could be one of the all-time great Rock Band tracks … but live? Dickinson’s never really been that great on that song. I can only hope whatever track they use lives up to the original.

But the master tracks are aces, no pun intended. That’s just killer stuff.

Fear of the Dark (Live) is the definitive version of the song, and I’ve yet to hear it performed poorly even in more recent recordings. Crowds just love it. They’d be insane to go with the studio version, because RB’s regular crowd chanting can’t match up to that, since I don’t recall them echoing the lead guitar. I guess they’ll do something to make it fit in with the usual audio scheme in the game.

Anyway, if there’s one band that can stand a few live tracks it’s this one.

Yeah, Live After Death is actually where 90% of my Iron Maiden listening has been in my lifetime, so I know that Aces High, in particular, is pretty great live. I just don’t know how great it is live in 2008 instead of 20+ years before that.

I know, my point was he’s never been great at it live. I’d hate to have a subpar live version.

I saw them last June in Maryland on this tour. Even if the live tracks come from 2008 rest assured they sounded great. I’d rather have masters, honestly, for those four tracks but even live they’ll kick butt. =)

Those are GREAT songs. I LOVE Wasted Years. The only thing missing is what I think is the most underrated Maiden song: Revelations. But this may be the first time I’ll buy a whole pack, rather than just selecting songs.

Yeah, Revelations is my favorite too. Was disappointed that wasn’t on the list, but with so many awesome songs to choose from I can see the difficulty in choosing. I’d have tossed “Iron Maiden” for “Wrathchild” too.
