Just hit a note once every 2 seconds and focus on hitting a note as soon as you can and then as late as possible and you’ll max your score. It doesn’t care if you travel around the pads or how many notes you hit each 2 second period (ie: you’ll get the same score increase if you hit 4 notes in those 2 seconds as you would if you just hit one).

Oh OK, so going batshit insane isn’t necessary. That’s good to hear.

I’m less sure about how it works on the drums, but I am pretty sure that at least on guitar hitting notes faster does get you a higher score. I don’t know if it’s an enormous difference, but when playing guitar for high scores I found that using the solo buttons on the strat consistently netted me higher BRE scores than with any other guitar.

I can barely make it through Everlong on expert now and RttH doesn’t give you the breaks that Everlong does…

…so I’m wondering how the hard RttH chart is on this version. I thought the hard drum chart in the cover version was harder to play than the the expert chart in some ways.

Have they changed it for this version?

It’s a very similar chart to the RB1 cover. I think the intro charting is just slightly different, but other than that I couldn’t tell you anything else that has changed.

My undertanding on BREs is that on drums, the goal is to hit one note as fast as possible, while on guitar, you want to roam as many notes as fast as possible. Using the solo buttons on the Strat definitely helps in this area.

After my initial suckage last night, I’m going to assume I was either just sleepy and/or partially drunk, because I’ve gold-starred most of the pack on Expert guitar now. I’m a few notes away from 100%-ing Can I Play With Madness, and I missed the Aces High solo by two notes. I’m going to enjoy this for a while. :)

Ouch.

Thanks for the info. I would probably pass on Run to the Hills after hearing that if my wife didn’t enjoy singing it so damn much.

How would you compare the guitar difficulty to Peace Sells?

I still have yet to pass The Conjuring and Bad Omen after months of trying.

I’m on the verge of buying GH:Aerosmith just because I could use a new Les Paul controller and with this deal, the bundle costs less than buying a controller by itself. And hey, free game.

Is the Aerosmith Les Paul in any way different, besides the faceplate?

Does anyone want to try and get a band together later tonight to play this? Maybe like around 8 eastern? I’ll play any instrument, though I’d rather not do vocals.

The packs are VERY comparable in terms of overall difficulty. The rhythm guitar is obviously different – the Megadeth pack has lots of crazy rhythm parts while the Maiden songs are more straightforward and gallopy, but the solos have the same zigzaggy feel and I even had a few spots where my meter dipped into the red.

I’m organizing a Scorehero group to record some Expert band HD videos later – if you’re on and we need a drummer, I’ll shoot you an IM. :)

Cool, I’m down if you need me. I’m pretty good but I’m not quite at Scorehero level of awesome. I should warn you that my RttH performance is downright embarassing, but other than that I can probably 5 star most of the rest of the pack.

Damn, one of these days I need to rock out with you guys. I’m basically just Reldan on Live. If you ever need a drummer just give me a holler.

So my wife had never heard of Iron Maiden (she was preppy in high school, totally different crowd). But she wanted to play some of the new songs so we played “Can I Play With Madness?”. Afterwards she says, “That was fun!”

Then we played “Number of the Beast”. I look over at her at the end and she says, “Iron Maiden ROCKS!”

Another convert. :) I think she’s hooked on the new DLC…

Actually on hard drums the new chart is 100 times easier than the old cover version. It is now like Evelong on hard instead of The Hand that Feeds (expert) at 2 times speed. If that makes any sense.

I was able to get through all 12 songs without failing on expert guitar. I even managed to 5 star 3 or 4 of them. So for me Peace Sells is stull much harder.

It’s a great pack overall though. I had forgotten how good some of those old Maiden songs are.

OK, who said they wanted more Green Day? They might be getting a whole game…

The songs better be importable into the regular game or I’m going to be pissed! Love Green Day.

If it really is out this year, and with Beatles Rock Band already incoming, I expect this is going to be more like the AC/DC edition than anything.

IMO the green day is not a “whole game” but an album or greatest hits style DLC release like Maiden, No Doubt, etc.
