harmonix, I THOUGHT I told you to put more Muse in the game? Don’t make me get a passport so I can cross the border and find you.
It’s the original version, not the one from Stranger Than Fiction, which is the one I know. I thought it was a cover at first, Greg’s voice sounds completely different.
I’ll second that. Wouldn’t even class myself as a Muse fan, but they have enough songs that would be awesome to play. Sadly, it seems like it’s the Guitar Hero series that gets these - Knights of Cydonia, Supermassive Black Hole, etc.
Map of the Problematique would be fantastic though. Come on, Harmonix.
My reasoning is that there are songs from GH1 in Rock Band and there are Bad Religion songs in Rock Band, so I doubt there are any licensing restrictions. As far as I know Activision has only recently started signing exclusive licensing deals, and it’s applied to all songs by a given band (Aerosmith and Metallica). I don’t know of any cases where they have an exclusive license for a single song, nor of any such licenses from back when Harmonix was producing the games.
Also, Infected is hardly Bad Religion’s “big hit”. It’s a good song, sure, but it’s not like you need to infer some sort of conspiracy to justify the other songs being done instead. You want to talk consipiracy, explain why Only Happy When It Rains by Garbage still isn’t in, but I’m pretty sure both Sorrow and 21st Century Digital Boy got more radio play than Infected.

No Dirty White Boy? FAIL!!!1!
Dirty White Boy will be in RB3. Maybe.
I bet Harmonix is really wishing they had a Michael Jackson DLC pack right now.
I’m sure…I hope whoever takes control of the rights let’s harmonix do some MJ dlc.
We played AAF’s version of Smooth Criminal several times this weekend…
When we played this weekend at the bar, we considered saying we’d play a song in tribute of MJ, making everyone think we’d play “Smooth Criminal,” then playing the Pixies’ “Dead” instead.
However, since I explained that I can’t stand playing any of the Pixies’ tracks,* we just played “Smooth Criminal.”
*I had already played bass that night on “Monkey Gone to Heaven” and I wanted to beat the guy who picked it over the head with the guitar.
I’m forced to wonder how many really good Michael Jackson songs you could do. I put together a little memorial playlist for finishing Plants vs. Zombies this weekend and I Want You Back (by The Jackson 5) would be freaking incredible on bass, and ABC seems doomed to show up, but if the “Activision does exclusive deals” thing is true Beat It is right out. I would sure love to get some of this stuff, though.
This is the second time on this very page you’ve said this with no real basis. Also, you’re using quotes to quote YOUR OWN rumor about exclusive deals.
As pointed out before, yes, Activision did lock up Metallica and Aerosmith, but there is no evidence of them making individual songs exclusive, nor has there been any news of Activision locking up Michael Jackson.
Songs released as Rock Band DLC after they appeared in GH:WT:
Lenny Kravitz - “Are You Gonna Go My Way”
Pat Benatar - “Heartbreaker”
Steve Miller Band - “The Joker”
No Doubt - “Spiderwebs”
Blink 182 - “Dammit”
Not many, (there are a lot that are also on the RB2 disc, however,) but it’s enough to show that songs in Guitar Hero can still be brought over to Rock Band. “Dammit” was even released as RB2 DLC just two days after GH:WT’s release.
Hurm.
Looking for the citation made me quickly bored with the internet, but this was a rumor that started long before I mentioned it here. It may be nothing but malarkey, but, unlike Harmonix, they haven’t gone on record as saying that they won’t sign musicians to exclusive deals, so perhaps this got confused into the contrapositive. It’s worth noting that the current status of Nevermind in Rock Band is a pretty good indication that at least some of their song contracts are exclusive, as there’s no good reason why MTV wouldn’t have gone ahead and pulled in the three songs they don’t have that coincidentally show up on the Guitar Hero franchise.
Either way, that doesn’t change the fact that the rumor exists. I’m not sitting here and claiming that I’ve got a stethoscope hooked up to the board room’s table. I just said that I’d be disappointed if Rock Band couldn’t get one of the Michael Jackson songs I can think of that would work well for the game because of their rumored penchant for trying to get exclusive deals.
Yeah, the 3 best or most famous songs on Nevermind aren’t part of RB DLC! I saved money that week, anyway…
Well, gonna get a couple of Foreigner songs this week. Listened to the other stuff and am wondering why anyone would waste money on it. (GET OFF MY LAWN, YOU PUNK KIDS!)

Green Day “21 Guns”
Green Day “East Jesus Nowhere”
Green Day “Know Your Enemy”
Behemoth “Conquer All”
Black Dahlia Murder “What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse”
Cannibal Corpse “Hammer Smashed Face”
God Forbid “Empire of the Gun”
Job for a Cowboy “Embedded”
Marilyn Manson “Disposable Teens”
Slayer “Black Magic”
Whitechapel “This Is Exile”
for 7/7
Tentatively: Meh. New Green Day instead of known songs? Other stuff I’ll have to give a listen to.
2 bands I love, but the wrong song syndrome yet again. MM has been a long time coming, but that song is nothing to write home about. I want to believe, though.
I swear they’re saving a lot of known songs for RB3. Green Day, Foreigner, Nirvana. Wrong Song Syndrome indeed.
