But unlike “shit,” “bitch” is actually a radio-friendly word these days. The local rock station where I went to college often played the Guns ‘n’ Roses cover of “Hair of the Dog” in all its bitchy glory.

So that, plus the fact that “whore” is also apparently okay for Rock Band, (see “In Bloom,”) makes me think “bitch” is going to be kept in.

Man, a week when I only buy two songs seems downright refreshing these days. I’ll pick up “No Rain” for sure, and I think if I don’t download “Shipping Up to Boston” I’m going to get arrested by the Cambridge police. I’m pretty sure that liking the Dropkick Murphys is a state law.

Joking aside, does anybody have a good explanation for why there are so damn many Foo Fighters songs in Rock Band? I mean, they’re a pretty good band and all, but I don’t consider them iconic, or the voice of a generation, or anything like that. They didn’t define an era or anything. Is their work especially interesting on all the instruments or something (I’ve only picked up a couple of their songs)? I guess Grohl is just a big supporter of the platform.

They’re a pretty good band, they’re a pretty popular band, they’re a pretty big name, they’re rock enough that rock people like them, they’re poppy enough that pop people like them, and they make decent songs to play? I think it’s just a little of everything all coming together in a very Rock-Band-appropriate storm.

Quite looking forward to the Dropkick Murphys and Eve 6 here.

Woohoo, I’ve been wanting to play drums on Shipping Up To Boston for ages. Probably not the most fun to sing, but then you can just spend the majority of the song pretending you’re riding around in the back of a car checking your weapons with Jack Nicholson.
