Don’t forget “Detour through Your Mind”, “Wig”, and “Girl from Ipanema”.

“A key pops out of your nose.”

Yeah yeah, that’s what I meant. Makes it play very similarly to the original GH career, which is not a bad thing IMO.

Okay, bear with me here. Marathon Challenges are different from the marathon setlists within each city when playing the tour, right? You can’t save during a long set list at a tour venue, can you? Because that is what keeps kicking my ass. I’ll get through six songs and feel great about it and then the seventh and final song is “Shoulder to the Plow” or something and poof, all that work is out the window.

I’m trigger-shy about ever trying that mystery setlist again. Is the same crappy [read: borderline impossible for me on Hard] song always going to crop up at the end of those mystery setlists?

Sorry if I’m apples-and-orangeing this. It’s been a few weeks since I drummed. I’m jonesing.

What’s the deal with the Leaderboards? I’ve got over 50 songs showing up in the stars list now, so I figured I’d see how my new scores stack up against my friends. But no scores show up for any songs. Is it because I’m playing in quickplay?

You can check what’s in the mystery setlists the same as any other. It’ll say “Random Song” for most of the slots, but I seem to recall a lot of mystery setlists including a particular song at the end, and it shows up when you check the list.

I was playing RB2 last night-- quickplay, mind, with some songs I just downloaded this weekend. On some, I’d get star ratings on the list when I was done, on others I wouldn’t. What’s up with that? Remember, this was with songs I just downloaded this weekend, post-latest-patch.

That just sounds like a bug. I don’t think I’ve ever played a song for the first time and not had it show up.

Sweeeeet! All excellent songs, every single one of them. I notice they’re all single releases too, no album cuts. I can’t wait. Queen has such a rich catalog, they could do some more Queen 10-packs without dwelling into songs that weren’t released as singles.

Also, as a reminder: Lego Rock Band (coming out in early Nov) has two MORE Queen tracks:

  • We Are the Champions
  • We Will Rock You

and those are exportable to RB2.

Isn’t that effectively one track?

Just picked up “Gay Bar” (a required song for me) and have discovered Flobots and “Handlebars”. Not my usual kind of music but I really loved its Eminem/Streets mixed-up sound. Great stuff.

I like how Rock band keeps me listening to music I wouldn’t have thought of myself (as I don’t listen to the radio). Fratellis, Muse, Flobots, and others I forget, all bought (and sometimes whole albums too) because of Rock band!

Now if only Rock Band would let me sort and view the tracks the way RB:B does (no damn RB2 here yet).

Yeah, I actually picked up the Flobots album just from listening to Handlebars to see if it would be worth a RB download. It was on sale, and I don’t know if they’re gonna be my new favorite band or anything, but I never would’ve given them a second glance if not for RB.

Elsewhere, Many Shades of Black is one of those songs that makes me feel stupid for not being able to do 4 star drums.

no damn RB2 here yet

And people wonder why the asstastic Guitar Hero World Tour outsold RB2. In a word? Incompetence.

Fortunately not repeated with The Beatles: RB, and hopefully not with RB3, either.

You’ve probably answered this before Calistas, but is there no way of importing it?

Actually - I can run the UK version I hear. So perhaps I should man up and get on the interbutz and order it.

Actually, what I should reaaly do is sit down and work out what RB2 would offer me over RB. I can bring all the tracks in and there are some new features, but other than that?

Thanks for reminding me though!

RB2 has several awesome tracks of its own.

Solo World Tour is much better, as you can now create your own bandmates, rather than be forced to use KISS Army guy, lumberjack dude, and Bootsy Collins. (Or is this “some new feature”?)

Everything just feels more efficient and streamlined, though I can’t really describe why.

Also, this is controversial, as LK and others don’t like it as much, but I like RB2’s “challenges” as a better way to make your way linearly through the game’s songs. Instead of just going down a list like in RB, you do challenges that let you play through all the songs. And a lot of times there are challenges that incorporate DLC and RB1 tracks automatically. So for example, you might unlock the Classic Rock Challenge, which not only has Classic Rock songs from RB2, but also DLC that you already have on your hard drive, and also Classic Rock songs from RB1 that you imported into the game. It makes it so that the single player aspect of the game (or multiplayer, since you can do the challenges with other people too) fully incorporates any new songs you buy.

Another example of this is challenges for albums. So for example, when I bought and imported the AC/DC track pack, the AC/DC challenge showed up in the appropriate place, with all the songs in the correct order (the songs are from a concert, and they play best when played in the correct order). I like this system a lot better than RB1’s system of browsing through DLC and playing each song individually only.

man, you can’t even browse song skill ratings on drum/vox/guitar/bass in RB1!

Get that wiggedy-wack ass old RB1 shit outta here! :)

Yeah, I think the biggest improvement in RB2 is that it unifies your library, allowing you to sort your songs various ways making no distinction between on-disc and DLC.

The ability to create an entire band of custom characters is pretty cool, except that you don’t get to see them in quickplay.

RB2 is just better, in dozens of little ways that don’t seem like much individually but add up to a lot. And because of the song export, once you have RB2 you never play RB1 again.

Unless you want to play Enter Sandman on drums…but yeah, other than that I don’t have any reason to even still keep RB1 around at all…
