I’m a big enough Tom Petty fan that I would have bought them anyway, but that’s very good to hear!

Don’t get me wrong, they aren’t masters – but they’re IMO totally respectable live versions. Would like to hear others’ opinions, though.

Hey gang,

We’re only releasing bands that start with the letter N this week, so that gives you Nirvana and Night Ranger, with a 3 pack from each group! Hopefully the Night Ranger makes some of the rabid hair band fans happy, and I’m pretty sure I’ve seen one or two people on the forums asking about these Nirvana songs. Enjoy!

Available on Xbox 360 and Wii (Dec. 1) and PlayStation 3 system (Dec. 3):

Nirvana – “Come As You Are (Live from MTV Unplugged)” +
Nirvana – “Lithium (Live at Reading)”
Nirvana – “Smells Like Teen Spirit”
Night Ranger – “(You Can Still) Rock in America” +
Night Ranger – “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me” +
Night Ranger – “You’re Gonna Hear It From Me” +

(All tracks are original master recordings)

These tracks will be available for purchase as “Night Ranger Pack 01” or “Nirvana Pack 02” as well as individual tracks on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 system, and as individual tracks on Wii. Tracks marked with a “+” are also available in the family-friendly LEGO Rock Band Music Store.

Price:
$1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360) per track

$5.49, £3.99 UK, €2.49 EU (440 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360) for “Night Ranger Pack 01” or “Nirvana Pack 02”

Not bad. I’ll take 3!

Smells Like Teen Spirit, eh? I hear that’s a good song. cough

None of those Night Ranger songs are Sister Christian. This strikes me as an oversight. It might be boring and horrible to play, but, I mean, come on - what drunk 37 year old American male DOESN’T know all the words?

About. Bloody. Time.

Finally, Smells Like Teen Spirit comes out, and the Rock Band community can let forth the inevitable collective “meh.”

Or older…on my iPod- actually a live version from Japan.

I want. And I am not embarrassed to say it. Ok not too embarrassed.

They just passed 1000 songs. People have downloaded over 60 million, including the free songs.

Seriously. The biggest surprise here is that they somehow found three other Night Ranger songs.

Is it friday already? huh.

it’s Friday for Americans. (Hint: Thanksgiving)

They don’t want the press release overshadowed by the riots.

Oh, I seen an ad for Old Navy on the teevee, they are giving away lego rockband with $20 purchase or something. You silly Americans with your crazy Black Fridays. /jeolousy

Is it worth being at the store by 3 AM? Well, is it???

All “obvious” songs by bands will appear in RB3. 2012, believe!

Yep. That’s why Smells Like Teen Spirit will never be released as DLC.

Exception proves the rule, BAM!

Also, the shitty game had it. (gh5)

Heh. Actually, I’m kind of disappointed that they wasted Smells Like Teen Spirit on DLC. That actually would have made a good core song in Rock Band 3. I’ll buy it anyway, of course, but I still think saving the more popular well known songs for the sequel is a good idea. Maybe that was their plan, but it being included in one of the Guitar Hero games already changed the plan.

Night Ranger – “(You Can Still) Rock in America”
Night Ranger – “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me”

HOLY @*&^$! Christmas comes early for Sluggo!

“(You Can Still) Rock in America” has one of the great guitar solos of the 1980’s. It starts at 2:00 of this video.

And DTMYLM’s solo ranks up there as well – the original video is hilariously bad, but I was stunned to find this 2001 performance where Gillis and Watson basically recreate the original solo note-for-note. Can’t wait to play these.
