“(You Can Still) Rock In America” and “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me” were both as epic as I’d thought they’d be. I’ve gold-starred both, but I’ve yet to break 90% on either solo. And they’re both a bit forgiving in that you can flail your way through the solos and survive if you have full overdrive, so they’re not impossible to beat.
I’m really happy with the amount of DLC I’ve bought that became available to play in Lego Rock Band. I’m at 700 achievement points and think I can hit the 1000/1000 mark, and what’s making the grindy-type achievements relatively painless (i.e. get 1000 stars, complete every gig in every city), is the fact that I have a lot of relatively new DLC I can build setlists with.

Slipknot? I predict many broken foot pedals.
I predict I save my money!
Plus: On the 15th there will be more new Green Day! Not the songs people really want.
The shark, has it been jumped?
The following songs will be available as Green Day Pack 02:
- Christian’s Inferno
- Last of the American Girls
- ¡Viva La Gloria!
The year ends with a whimper and no RB3 announcement. Also, they stopped announcing classic albums. Might as well go back to PC games.

I predict, within the week, a video of people in Watchmen costumes playing Sounds of Silence.
I know I’ll play Sound of Silence and finish by yelling, “ELAAAAINE!”
The Simon & Garfunkel stuff is a definite buy. That’s a band I never thought I’d see in RB. Slipknot, not so much.
As much as I yearn for older Green Day, there is one song on the new album that Id love them to release: Peacemaker. It’s got a nice Devil Went Down to Georgia vibe and seems like It would be fun to play.
In for Slipknot. The S & G stuff will depend on the charts.
One thing I’ve learned is unless the charts are fun to play I never play songs more than once even if I like to listen to them.

I’m definitely in for Duality, maybe Psychosocial, but a fan of Sulfer I’m not.

I’m okay with playing a relatively boring chart on drums if I like the song (AC/DC comes to mind). Not so much on guitar though.
On Xbox Live, for Gold members, the Deal of the Week is No Doubt’s “The Singles 1992–2003” Album for $15.

The Simon & Garfunkel tracks are much more fun than expected – they remind me of the Beatles tracks. Not complicated, necessarily, but enjoyable charts and songs everyone knows. Definitely recommended.
Slipknot… well, nu-metal is as nu-metal does. :)
The Slipknot songs are a blast on drums, especially Phychosocial. And not as hard as I expected.
Only problem is, they suck!

Dreading the inevitable “Christmas” DLC pack.
You think “Visions” sucks when it comes up in a random playlist? Try “Hannukah Blessings”. Yeah.
Yeah. That could be a problem.

Seconded. “Sounds of Silence” is my favorite S&G song, but even I was surprised by how much fun it was to play. While not crazy fast, it’s relentless. I found it to be a similar experience to playing the chart for “Simple Man.”
My roommate also sang both S&G songs, and she said “Sounds of Silence” was also harder to sing than expected. At least for her. She usually sings the Garfunkel part, but the vocal track has you singing the Simon part. I really hope Rock Band 3 adds harmonies for this song.

I don’t have this problem (with DLC anyway), because I have discretion.
Thanks for reminding me to download this week.
You’re welcome. You need to buy more so HMX doesn’t have to lay off more people. Definitely get Green Day, 30 Seconds to Mars. and All American Rejects next week. Do your part. Don’t forget to wear your tight girl jeans!
